nick12391
None of my mods have proper graphics in-game. I think it's because I don't know what I'm doing. I play GOTY Edition on Vista. The bow of Thoril'Dal shows up as a huge yellow diamond with a grey exclamation point(a ! not a ?)Races(cute elves, high imperials, etc.) show up as normal bodies with floating teeth and hair and sometimes pink body parts. The Mage's Sky House is missing the bottom half and also has randomly placed similar exclamation points.COBL has similar problems with races.HGEC does nothing even after I OMODed it. I tried each of these one at a time without any other mods checked as well as all together. No difference.I would attatch screen shots of all this as well, but my PrintScreen button doesn't do anything for some reason.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ferryt
Did you install Oblivion in the default directory? If so, that could well be at the root of your problem. In Vista (and Win7) you need to get it out of your default programs directory because you run afoul of the UAC with it there. I wound up uninstalling Oblivion on my Vista machine and reinstalling it to a "Games/Oblivion" directory on the root of my harddrive and I've never had any problems like this with Oblivion, since. nick12391
So you're saying instead of it being in LocalDisk(C:)/ProgramFiles I should put it. . . Where?
BluHaze
So you're saying instead of it being in LocalDisk(C:)/ProgramFiles I should put it. . . Where? He's saying that if you install it to the default location of C:\Program Files, then you'll run into issues of UAC (Win7 and Vista only) preventing Oblivion or its mods from writing to files in that directory. UAC stands for "User Account Control", and it will attempt to move modified files into a virtual file space, with the intention of protecting your computer from malicious programs. This is all well and good for newer software that was written with this in mind, however older programs and games like Oblivion have no idea what's going on, and instead simply see many of the modding resources it needs as missing entirely. When things suddenly go missing in bethesda games, that's when you get the big exclamation points. As the previous poster suggested, simply reinstall Oblivion to a different directory. Personally I have mine installed to C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion, but you can install yours to anywhere you like, with the exception of the program files directory. Megatarius
You can also disable UAC in the Control Panel, but make sure you have a good anti-virus installed.
