Taserpenguin
My fallout 3 disk will not uninstall for a possible reinstall. Whenever I try to uninstall it, the install shield will crash and nothing will get done. I have been trying to fix this for over a month now, how do I fix this problem? I seriously miss this game, and all help will be appreciated.
bben46
My guess is you first tried deleting the folders manually. While I have never experienced this problem on FO3, I have dealt with it in Oblivion and I think it will work the same - It needs the exe file (fallout3.exe) to be in the fallout 3 folder in order to complete the uninstall. If it's not there, the uninstall fails. If you deleted the Fallout folder - create a new one in exactly the same place the original one was at. If it's not in the exact same place it will not work. Now make a dummy file in that folder. A text file with nothing in it will work. Rename the dummy file to Fallout3.exe. Now try the uninstaller. I also recommend running a registry cleaner before trying to reinstall to clean out any leftover FO3 registry entries. I use ccleaner Slim ( FREE) And available here: http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.html To use it properly, Reboot your computer after the uninstall, then run your registry cleaner, then reboot again.
