Changing display settings

I had a similar issue in FO3 and now with FNV. So far in FNV, I have not had high resolution. Here is what happens:

1. Graphics start to look very bland. Kind of like going from 1920x1200 to 1280x1024 (or what ever the low resolution numbers are)

2. In FO3 all I had to do is exit, change the display options, save, go back and change them back to 1920x1200 and the problem is fixed

3. In FNV, when I go back to Options to change resolution, the resolutions never change from what I set initially.

Is there something in one of the ini files that prevents altering your game resolution?

The initial settings are saved in the fallout.ini, which in FNV it's possible that one of them can be set to "read only" thus not able to be changed. You can try right clicking that folder mydocuments/games/FNV then uncheck "read only" an apply to all folders an subfolders files whatever.

You could also just delete those two files an it should auto generate them, auto detect again, via the fallout launcher. Then go to the launcher settings to set your native resolution, make sure you use Native, you're wasting your time if you don't. Then disable AA disable AF, and don't touch any other settings. Launch the game then use the distance sliders there to change them to half what was auto detected on all of those.

Thanks. Somehow, before I read this post, I was able to change the settings. I am sure it may have been a read-only with the files initially. However, this did not solve the problem of crappy graphics. I found out that when I was updating my display options in game when the Texture size is changed from Large to anything else, the graphics suck. I have to keep them at Large.
