  1. 1. Should the size of the tent be changed?

    • I liked the tent the way it was, keep it that way.
    • Make it bigger, add more cool stuff.
    • I don't care, I just want a nice portable home.
  2. 2. Should more ease of use features be added? (Will increase production time)

  3. 3. Do you still want immersion features? (examples are fuel requirements, energy requirements, etc)

    • Make the immersion requirements optional.
    • Keep it like it was, I like it to be a bit harder to maintain a house.
    • I don't care.

In this topic I will be sharing all my ideas about the New Vegas version of my Survival Tent mod. I would greatly appreciate input from all you people about what you want. The poll above covers the basic ideas, but if you have something to add, leave a reply below. Any requests for usability will be taken into consideration. If many people ask for the same thing, it's more likely to be included. Things that will not be included are things that could be considered "cheats" (so long as you exclude the fact that a portable home isn't exactly playing fair ;) ).

As it stands right now, I've spent a grand total of about 20 minutes looking around in the NV GECK. From what I've seen, making the tent will be quite a bit easier than before. On top of that, there are several new meshes that I can take advantage of to provide a tent that's twice the size of the current one. This means more space, more storage, and, ultimately, a better looking end product (I always thought the original was too cramped).

There are a few things that will need to be done before this will even be possible. First off, I will need someone to make a simple modification of a current mesh (the exterior model needs to have a door attached). Second (and most time consuming) I must rebuild the entire interior (this is also my favorite part). The third thing will be a relatively simple import of the old scripts. I'm going to be refining them and streamlining the way they run, which will result in an easier to maintain and troubleshoot mod with more features.

Since most people don't care about anything I've just typed I'll sum this up

TL;DR

What changes do you want, if you haven't used the original, check it out and see if you want anything added. Then, be patient while I work, and I'll get this out as quickly as I can.

EDIT 10/20/10:

A few things I forgot to mention. With a larger tent, the weight will increase (I'm thinking 150). The game also comes with a new mesh that seems to be perfect for what I want (as far as carrying the thing). We'll see how it goes. More input would be great.

Yeah, I realized the Fallout 3 version is buggy. Unfortunately, I'm focusing my attention at NV for now, and won't be getting around to F3 (for the foreseeable future). I do plan on eventually going back and playing through F3 (still haven't done that, amazingly). But for now, no, there won't be an update. I'll try to get an older, FWE requiring version back up. Hey, at least it'll work. Sorry for the headaches I've caused with that.

  • 2 weeks later...
I hope to see the New Vegas version soon. When are you going to upload the older FWE version for Fallout 3? I could really use it considering that I deleted it when I updated to the newer version that was terribly broken.
