securitywyrm
How to fix the rediculously low framerate in Fallout New Vegas Step 1 (optional) : If you have already played the game for more than an hour, remove all sharp objects from around your keyboard.Step 2 : Open console, type "Toggleemotions".Step 3 : Watch your frame rate double.Step 4 (optional) : If you performed step 1, /facedesk upon realizing this is all it took to fix the problem. Gishank
Aka by effectively lowering your graphics settings, you get a higher framerate?... Genius!Don't blame New Vegas for your PC's poor performence, it's not nice to mislead people.
NovaZek
The "uber" fix for all, just take a look on your developer-site of your graphic card drivers. There are already nVidia GeForce Updates. I am downloading right now the newest one. Going to post soon if it works. I know that there is something weird about the frames. FO3 was high maxed, just N.V. on medium - still stuttering? Srsly ... I hate that. €: The update isn't fixing anything really. The performance is better, about 80%, but it is still stuttering, less, but still stuttering. Btw. Enthusiast: It is not his "poor performance" of his PC, it is a regular graphic bug of new packets. Comes with each new version of the game. Some ppl of the develope team can forget something, they are also humans. So, lets wait until a F: NV patch releases.
straha20
The toggleemotions switch is not the fix. There is a really good discussion of this issue, and what appears to be the actual fix over at the Bethesda forums. Not sure if I can post the link to the discussion pertaining to this issue. Mods...if it needs to be removed, please do so. Thanks! http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1123460-potential-fix-for-npc-slowdown/ I have not tried this fix personally, and as a disclaimer, you should do so only at your own risk, but it at least does appear promising. securitywyrm
Yes, the .dll you can download does have some benefits. However, if you don't want to mess around with system files for something that should have been patched, just do the togleemotions command. It's not the "full fix" and there will still be some stuttering... but it's a stutter of 45 FPS to 30, not 10 to 2.
