New Vegas open ended gameplay

I know that there is a thread concerning this issue already, but it was more of a vague inquiry about the existence of a definitive ending. I felt that it was appropriate to create a new thread dedicated to the idea of creating open ended gameplay rather than a general discussion of the fact of whether it exists or not.

 

 

Okay so i completed the game today in under 16 hours, wrongly assuming that there would be open ended gameplay.

Well, as i stated i assumed wrong.

 

The main problem with making open ended gameplay work is this:

There's many multiple endings with a lot of factors that would render an open ended gameplay mod difficult to produce.

As far as i know theres only two endings: NCR and Caesar's Legion.

And as far as i know, Caesar's Legion takes over the whole Mojave Wasteland. I mean the whole damn thing.

 

I lack the sufficient modding capabilities to work out a way to make the Wasteland swarmed with Legion/NCR troops in their appropriate spots, and would like the counsel of more experienced modders to aid in the progress of such a task. It may be simple, but it may not, I do not know. That's the issue.

 

This thread shall mainly be dedicated to the discussion and contribution of ideas and information leading to the creation of a fully functional open ended gameplay experience of New Vegas.

My idea is something like the ending of Oblivion, where you get a grand reward as promised by whoever (in my case, Legate Lanius), and then scars of the battle on the dam still remaining. Also, since the wastes were occupied by the Legion, have all faction members (or most of them, depending on the case) replaced by legion soldiers (or the appropriate faction).
