SilentAcen
Howdy, been loving Nexus for awhile, but i've never dug right into the forums before, great site :P Onto business. I'm hoping anyone has done this so far, and if they can assist me in telling me how. I have a Fallout 3 character that I adore, and i'd love to get him in NV, but, I don't think thats entirely possible. So, instead i'd like to know if there is anyways I can import his appearance at least. I loaded up the NV character creator ingame, and man are the faces different. The jawline on Caucasians is much different. Has anyone managed to swap facial statistic between FO3 and FONV yet?
Solitude102
I tried to use the old face gen exchanger, but as soon as the transfer began I got some "Determine character not found at position 25" message. So either there is something going wrong on my part or it just doesn't work. Hopefully there will be one soon though, as I enjoy my main FO3 character as well. carcanclaw
I really want to do this too, but I'm having the same issue with facegen exchange (even after doing the plasticsurgeonmenu fix). If anyone has any ideas, please let us know. :]
vivanto
I haven't tried this, but in theory there should be a workaround, but only works if you also have the source face in a fo3 mod, not a saved game. (most fo3 character faces were uploaded like this as well). With FO3 Geck or FOEdit copy the facedata to a temporary notepad or similar. Create a new mod with NV Geck where you have 2 options: 1) Modify one of the presets for the facegen with the copied data. This has the benefit of being more immersive, as you just pick the preset on character creation, but that's also it's disadvantage, because you can only use it on a new playthrough. 2) Create/Modify a new or existing NPC in the gameworld with the copied data. Preferably one you can easily reach in-game (not important if you write down the npc's refID). While in game, use the player.MatchFaceData ref-id console command, which will copy the npc's facegen data to the player character. Save, exit, unload the temporary plugin and you're good to go. They're both a bit messy, but until a new face exchanger is out, it can work as a one-way facedata transfer.
matekun
1- Obtain the face data you want with this program: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9064 2-Load the FalloutNV.esm data in the Geck (the new Geck) 3-Modify an NPC (anyone works, but try to choose the same race of the face you want to import),even if is only to change the hair color.Mark the "Is Chargen face preset" option .After that save the .esp (be careful to name the .esp with the first letter bigger than F,or FNVedit will load it before FalloutNV.esm (not sure about this, but no harm in name it "pocholo" XD) 4-Load the .esp in FNVedit (remember to activate first the new .esp you created in the New Vegas launcher, inside data files. 5-modify the Facegen geometry of the npc you altered with the data you obtained in step 1 (double click in Facegen geometry tab with Shift pressed).Save the .esp after that. 6-Start a new game, and that face you liked to import will be selectable in the creation menu.Or open console with the Showracemenu command and select it. 7-After you changed your face to the one you wanted and saved, you can delete the .esp you created to do this job. It worked to me.Now I run the desert with my beautyful girl :)
Paxan_1
Had the same question yesterday, here is a good guide which worked for me http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1124508-req-facegen-face-exchanger-or-something-similar/page__p__16528800entry16528800
