MirzaGhalib
Every time I use V.A.T.S. my game lags like crazy and every body part has a 0% hit rate. Is there any way to fix this? I think I remember having this same issue in FO3 as well. I hardly ever use V.A.T.S. but I'd like to at least have the option without suffering through disgusting lag-times. I also have an issue that occurs randomly in which my hud and weapon disappear as well as the hair of NPCs and the fps drop incredibly low. Anyone know what that is? I should also mention that all lighting seems to change and it almost looks like it's dawn.
Fraktyl
Have you tried using this:http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778 I personally haven't tried it, but many others are saying it's a miracle cure. If that doesn't work, we'll need to see system specs, etc.

I think that the other issue is somehow related, because it only does the weird notexture slowdown thing after I use VATS. And it always stutters like that when I face the direction in which I just attempted to use VATS. Here are my specs: NVIDIA 8800 GTSAMD Phenom 9500 quad core 2.20 GHz with 4 gigs of ramWindows XP 64-bitSingle monitor @ 1680X1050 Oh. And I should add that it eventually crashes after the problem starts. And for some reason after I used d3d9 New Vegas detected my video card as an Nvidia 7900 which is totally incorrect. MirzaGhalib
So am I the only one experiencing this issue?
Fraktyl
I remember in FO:3 there was an issue with VATS and quad core systems. The same bug may exist in New Vegas. I'd have to dig around and find the quad core fix that limits the number of cores, and even then it may not work. Also, the "fix" will detect your card incorrectly. Other than that, your specs do look ok. Does the game lag when you talk to NPC's or just in VATS?

Even if there are a lot of NPCs I don't get lag. Just when I enter VATS. Edit: Yeah, I remember that issue in FO3, but I was under the impression that they'd resolved it with New Vegas. I guess we can't take anything for granted. Even when I did use that fix with FO3, however, I was still experiencing the issue--albeit not as much. Edit again: I did the toggleemotions in the command prompt and for some reason I'm no longer having that issue. fuzzywombat
So you don't feel like the only one, I have this problem as well, and so does my brother. V.A.T.S. will lag when first activating, then about 3-5 secs later i can start selecting body parts. The other issue is with reloading weapons: I reload a clip and the gun just sits there and I'm unable to shoot, swap weapons, use VATS or open inventory. After a window of 3-10 secs, I can go back to blasting away. This problem occurs most often with shotguns for some reason. I'll try that toggle command as well.
