snarfy
It would be a lot more realistic if a lot more creatures came out at night and then slunk away when the sun rose. There's a lot of nocturnal stuff out there. It would make for more tense evening strolls and adventuring. There is one mod out there called "dangerous nights and storms" but it's pretty limited. It just spawns some goblins right beside you which then attack you. Gets old very fast. I'm thinking more of a mod that spawns more creatures AROUND you throughout the night, but they'd interact with the world as they normally would, instead of just attacking you. Does anything like this exist, or could someone make a mod that did that? It would add a lot to the game... Thx
CemeteryN7
Not sure if this is it, but try Martigen's Monster Mod (MMM), I haven't gotten around to trying it, but from what I've seen it makes wildlife so much better.
snarfy
Yes, I use MMM and it's great. Still, there's nothing more inherently dangerous about traveling at night than during the day.
Ferryt
It might surprise you, snarfy, but in the real world most nocturnal animals aren't dangerous. They're nocturnal because that lifestyle helps them avoid detection by the (mostly) diurnal predatory species who are happily snoozing away while their prey species are awake. You'll also find that many diurnal animals will shift to a nocturnal lifestyle during hunting seasons because it helps them hide from humans, who are notoriously poor at observing things in the darkness. Even cougars, which we have in Oblivion, aren't nocturnal, although most people wrongly associate cats with a nocturnal lifestyle. Cats typically hunt during the twilight hours when their eyes are especially suited to the reduced lighting conditions. They're not much better at seeing in actual darkness than you are. In short, if you want to be realistic in Oblivion, nights should be safer than days for travelers.
David Brasher
Here is a shortened version of a script from one of my mods, Vampire Hunting - Order of the Virtuous Blood. It is applied to all the custom vampires on a custom leveled list. If you wanted a particular vanilla Oblivion creature to only come out at night, you could place a similar script on the several variations of that creature so that you would only see them at night. SCN AAVBVampireRoamingSCRIPT ; Applied to leveled list Vampires that ambush travelers on the roads, and wander the streets in town. ; Makes them hide from the sun during the day. Begin Gamemode If GetDead == 0 If ( Gamehour < 4 || Gamehour >= 20 ) Enable Else Disable EndIf EndIf End
CemeteryN7
@FerrytThis is a fantasy game though, so who knows what lurks in the night. i know from experience from playing D&D, that there were dangerous creatures. (4th sucks for anyone that wants to know). I'm not trying to call you out or anything, just saying really. This does have the undead, vampires, werewolves, etc. That's what Snarfy is looking for. octavius243
Edit the creatures' AI Packs so that they wander at night and stay in their caves during the day.
Uniquekind
Sorry to dredge up an old post here, but I am fascinated by this script--how would I implement this into the game? I have the CS installed and all the major utilities, but I haven't done anything more advanced than edit prices and weights of clutter. >.<
