Dragon Soul in a tiny humanoid body? Yeah, like that can't go wrong (Or: The Difficulties of Being Dragonborn)

I've always been annoyed by how easy it is being Dragonborn - I mean, yeah, we have great mods to up the difficulty of gameplay, but there aren't any mods that mess with the Dragonborn AS A DRAGONBORN.

So I propose This:

Big Bad Dragon Soul in a tiny humanoid body? Shouting at a power even the Greybeards and Ulfric Stormcloak can't reach in their entire lives? Learning shouts at the drop of a hat? Sounds too good to be true.

Since Dragons don't have a cooldown and the Dragonborn is technically speaking a Dragon, there is no cooldown. HOWEVER, instead of a cooldown, shouts whittle away at your health, magicka, and/or stamina (preferrably all three) in various levels depending on the shout used (three words uses more than one word, shouts like Dragon Aspect are superpowers that cost a lot while Throw Voice uses extremely little, etc.). Dragon shouts are presumably channeled with their bodies, and Shouts of that power are not meant to be channeled by humans, causing the Dragonborn's body to break down. Theoretically, Shout enough and you can kill yourself from the strain, so some strategy will be needed and you won't turn into this shouting machine with no limits.

Likewise, learning new words from the walls will have a short term cost. I'm open to suggestions on this one, but in my opinion learning dragon tongue would be like having the word sledgehammered in your brain. You could have an animation of them staggering and having the screen blurred for a good 15 seconds where you can randomly trip on things if you try to move or, god forbid, fight. (Basically acting like they're drunk)

Absorbing souls, however. SUPER PAINFUL. Takes a bunch of stamina, vision goes dark, Dragonborn gets laid out flat on their back so sucks to suck if you are in the middle of a fight. YOU WILL BE VERY VULNERABLE when you absorb a soul, so strategy and/or followers are crucial.

Of course, you need to balance it out. Things that vanilla has to cut down cooldown, the Talos Amulet for example, could lessen the effects caused by words and absorbing souls, and there could be spells and potions available to you that buffers the damage caused by shouting (possibly with their own corresponding quests? Like commisioning the college of winterhold to make you the spell or being lab rat for an alchemist, i don't know).

It's a mod I can kinda see being like ApolloDown's mods, Simple Magic Overhaul, Movement and Stamina Overhaul, and Important Information Overhaul. (Kinda got the idea while figuring out how to integrate his mods in my game, so yeah)

Is anyone else interested in a mod like this?

I would love to use this in my game.

I make the game brow beatingly difficult, it isn't even funny. and not in the "just turn it to legendary" kind of difficult. more of the "skeletons and undead don't stay dead unless killed correctly" or "you are going to die if you stay in the cold too long." or even "all level of monsters exist, avoid them if you can't fight them." sort of way. Give your character actual strength and challenges to overcome. Your mod idea fits in perfectly with that type of playing. :)

I just always thought it was stupid how there are really no effects to being dragonborn, like I know it's because it's a game and all that but iit just wasn't balanced enough for me. If I had any say in the matter the Dragonborn could understand all spoken dragontongue (kinda like HP's Parseltongue) immediately but not able to shout it until the aove happened, but I always end up ignoring the Dragonborn abilities because they are mostly useless. If they were super powerful like everyone expects them to be but had their nasty little side effects it'd be more realistic and quite frankly more useful than vanilla.
