sherlok7
I am relatively new to PC gaming (and thus, modding). I got one NV mod to work (it changes the pip boy to a "pitt girl") by extracting the zipped mod file to the data file. Then I tried to apply two other mods the same way (they were .rar files, not zip folders, and it wouldn't let me "extract" them, so I put the files into individual zip folders and extracted them that way. not sure if that was right) I tried looking in the "data file" in the New Vegas launcher, but couldn't find any other files. The same thing happened with the pitt girl mod, so I didn't worry about it. However, the other two mods didn't take. Did I make some grievous error, or am I missing something completely obvious? Help would be greatly appreciated.
FriskyCthulhu
What mods were you installing? If they wouldn't extract you may have a corrupt archive. Assuming they are mods for tweaking/adding game content, they should have an esp. When you go to your fallout new vegas/data folder, are the esp files for the mods there? x BattleHeart x
Agreed...Let's say you download a weapon mod. When its finished downloading and you can see what's in the archive, there should be a meshes folder (if new meshes are used), a textures folder (if there are new textures), a sound folder (if there is new sounds) and an ESP or ESM. Some mods have both an esm and an esp. Then you drag n' drop those folders into the Data folder which is in your New Vegas Folder. :)
