Deleted5210271User
Hey, so recently I've had this problem where launching the game with SKSE takes significantly longer than it used to. Normally I would see the command prompt for a second or so, then about 5-10 seconds later the game window would appear, black screen for a few seconds, then the menu screen appears and loads. However, as of recently the command prompt stays up for 20 seconds or more, and the black screen is there for close to a minute before the menu appears. I've searched all over to see if others have this problem, but I couldn't find anything of the sort. I don't think this issue is mod-related, as I haven't installed, removed or updated any mods since before this started happening. The only thing I've changed about my Skyrim game is the ENB I use (I've been experimenting with new ENBs a lot lately). I've never had experiences with ENBs altering Skyrim launch times in the past, though, so I don't think that's the problem either. I tried disabling some mods after this, since I know lots of plugins can cause slow startup, but the time remains the same. Any idea what could be the cause of this? If it isn't mod-related, would simply reinstalling the game alleviate the problem?I'm using the up-to-date version of SKSE, ModOrganizer for mods. The ENB I installed right before these problems occurred was Kalicola, and the current one I'm using is a tweaked version of MATSO ENB. Other than the ENB and HiAlgoBoost, nothing is present in my Skyrim folder but vanilla game content. I've also tried launching the game with SKSE from the Skyrim folder instead of MO. Same results. Xerciis
I've recently ran into this problem as well man....it started happening after a windows 10 update....my game still launches and plays fine but it seems like skse is hanging on start up....If I launch my game without skse it launches instantly...so far the only fix that I know of is complete re install of skyrim and skse...this sucks especially for someone like me that has a heavily modded game. Though I'm using 8.1. I also didn't have it solved by reinstalling my game so I'd hold off on that. I feel it has something to do with the windows update but surely it'd be effecting more people in that case
Draconzis
This has also started happening to me recently, maybe even at the same time as you. I believe I have also seen another thread with the same issue below this one. About the same time I ran into a potentially game breaking thing, but I doubt it is connected. EDIT: Using Windows 7 here. Edited July 17, 2016 by Draconzis
Darkstyler35
You're welcome. The other thread is here.It seems this problem is happening on different operating systems so I'm not sure an update is the cause of a part of it. It doesn't prevent skse to work apparently, but just delay the game. That makes me think about everything skse is connected : plugins, savegames, mods, security softwares, etc... You're not alone, see here.Voila some ideas on the fly :Make sure you don't use redundant memory tweaks like SSME : check in your skyrim folder if you have a d3dx9_42.dll + ssme.ini. Don't use both.Create exception rules in your firewall / antivirus / antispyware concerning skse_loader.exe + skse_steam_boot.exe. Some security programs may have had an update that makes changes in the way it annalyzes threats. You may also exclude, if possible skyrim entire directory from sandbox or such programs. You may also activate an eventual gaming mode but I'm not sure if it'll be enough. Ensure every option above is managed to remove any security software issue.Make sure the security level in above softwares is default and consequently not too high, particularly with heuristic engine. This can make weird things sometimes.Have a look at your C:\Users\Utilisateur\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves\ skse files and make sure they are not too big and that your save folder doesn't have a billion saves... For example my character is level 90 and my skse saves are 13 ko. The bigger your skse saves are, I suppose the more skse mods you're using and I'm not sure skyrim can handle everything.Test skse loading on a new game but before that, empty your save folder, (make a backup first). Deactivate your skse mods temporarilly. If you don't know which ones, deactivate all. With mods deactivated, uninstall your other C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\SKSE\Plugins\, try first to cut/paste them in another folder to invalidate them temporarilly. Finloch
Having this very same issue which just started yesterday. I'm currently doing a fresh install using MO to mod and new savegame just to run around and test the mods. At first I thought it must be a mod I installed, so I started backing up and deactivating the most recently installed mods.Eventually went back to my Vanilla profile in MO, and skse_loader.exe still appears with command prompt for 30 seconds before continuing to load Skyrim. The extra wait is slightly annoying, but liveable. I just worry that if SKSE is not loading properly, then that could affect all the mods that depend on it. Since it's starting to look like the problem is not in my game install, I started running diagnostics on my rig. No problems detected. So I'm starting to think it is related to some update, since others were affected all on the same day. Could it be related to SteamCloud? I'm thinking of using a Restore Point to revert my Windows 7 to an earlier state, see if that resolves it. Curious to see what others might find on this thread. Happy hunting!F
Drazhar753
Try what darstyler said in my seperate thread of this problem; Are you using a shortcut from skse loader.exe ? If you have installed skse manually, could you install it via steam and run it with a right-click on systray steam icon / skyrim script extender (skse) ? If so, does it make a difference ? this seems to have worked for me, however this will run you through the vanilla launcher, so I recommend making your skyrim.ini and prefs.ini read only or else it might change things. This doesn't fix what seems to have caused the delay when running manually, but at least it's a workaround for now to avoid the wait, important for me when testing my mod as I go. Changed some shadow settings and things, may depend on the edits perhaps *shrug*. Either way all good now :)
