SKSE Slow Launch

I can try installing SKSE through Steam and running through Steam, but I'm not totally sure how to do this in conjunction with MO. I've always just launched everything from MO.

Do I need to reinstall SKSE via Steam? If I'm understanding correctly, I would launch SKSE individually through Steam, and then launch the game from within MO?

Sorry if this is a n00b question! I just avoid doing things with Steam as much as possible.

I do remember there was a Steam update just about the time this started... Maybe it was deliberate on Steam's part?

  1. <Do I need to reinstall SKSE via Steam?> Yes, don't worry, files will be overwritten.

<I've always just launched everything from MO.> start skse from the systray steam icon, right click / skyrim script extender, this will start the launcher, then click on play.

  • <I just avoid doing things with Steam as much as possible> in this case, it seem users who start skse from steam don't have the problem.

<I do remember there was a Steam update just about the time this started> this probably caused the problem.

Thanks so much! I'll try it. So just to be sure, I click play on the launcher but with MO open it will still run my modded set-up? And I'll also set my .ini files to Read-only to protect my tweaks, just in case.

By Shor, you rock!

Hmmm... I was able to launch SKSE and TESV.exe from Steam in sys-tray as described. But it didn't call any M.O. functions, so I got a totally Vanilla game with only SKSE running. No mods. I did fix the slow launch issue when doing this workaround, but I need my mods! Lol.

Tried launching SKSU from MO again, same 30 second "hang" on SKSE launcher, but mods and .ini tweaks are still all there too.

Ok, yeah, I searched around and couldn't find anything either. Well, I'll keep following this thread and see if anybody comes up another fix that might work with MO. It always bugs me when I can't find the cause of a glitch!

Cheers,
