More love for the melee/unarmed pacifist

Since we're talking about experimental non-lethal weapons, this is one that caught my attention a few years ago; PEP laser. There are also a few other Directed energy weapons being used and developed whether for non-lethal or lethal application. Like a microwave beam that only penetrates the skin a very small amount, but excites the water molecules in there to cause an intense burning sensation without any (apparent) damage, as well with a few kinda of ultra-sonic and infra-sonic weapons, and a bunch of other laser-based weapons designed to intercept missiles and mortar rounds, The future is here!

Anyway, yes I have checked out StunGraveys awesome mod. It does a lot of the things mine does only much, much better :). I haven't actually played the mod, but I've looked over it in the GECK and it's been great for learning a bit more about scripting (which I presently know very little about). Very well done, and I'm pretty excited to see were it goes.

As for the unarmed attacks, they are added with perks, but the perks are all entry-point perks, adding moves (listed as 'has <insert direction> power attack) that appear to be directly hard-coded into the game, which is kind of a bummer. i can't seem to find any reference to the moves themselves as abilities or anything else.

As for that sprint mod, thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely check it out.

I noticed with most of the perks, but not all, they are usually attached to a script or effect in the effect list. I found the best way to find these is to put the first three letters of the perk in the filter area then click on all, try not to click all first it takes a while to load.

Sometimes this method doesn't work, for some reason the devs didn't make this game very clean and things are named weird and some are obvious, and some seem to be hidden or hard coded for no reason at all, like the companion wheel, wtf!

I think it's kinda sad that most modders make there mods cleaner than the original game, and that some of those mods were made to fix the devs mistakes.

That clip was epic!

Thrown weapons in NV are treated like ranged weapons in the sense that they allow you to target body parts in VATS, but unlike ranged weapons, they don't use ammo (in a strict sense) and the VATS percentage always seems to be 95%.

Would it be possible to use the script that allows targeting for thrown weapons, and apply them to other unarmed/melee weapons? I am guessing the animations won't match up, but they already don't right now (an uppercut to the gut is just as likely to cripple a limb as it will the torso)

The percentage varies with your skills and stats. AFAIK ist's melee and agility, which govern your throwing-precision and STR (I guess) the distance. I just noticed this with a new char I've made: 20 melee-skill and 7 AGI; from a normal distance I got 65-85%. A bit later I reached level 2, increased melee by 10 and the percentage was much better.

So I guess, after you reached a certain number with your melee skill and your AGI is not beyond good and bad, you will have the 95% even from far distances.

Well it may not be completely relevant, but here is a thread discussing adding more throwable weapons, including junk and objects that realistically wouldn't be lethal (Like I doubt someones head will explode if you hit them with a teddy bear)

More Choices To Throwing Objects

Why not throw rocks at your enemies.....oh its a deathclaw. lets throw rocks at it!!!

Throwing Rocks At It

And since it has the possiblity of funniness and sillyness I've also included a link to the thread in my large thread of silly ideas

Thoughts; y'know one of the ways of avoiding violence is a 'don't f**k with me aura' and I was a bit disappointed that in this Fallout the 'terrifying presence' perk was as far as it went. I was just stood over that weasel Saint James and his dialog was;

"You got nothing on me"

I'm thinking, well yes I have actually, the most powerful handgun in the game is pointed at your guts and before you think of that power-fist boy, this is Enclave Hellfire armor.

I wouldn't know where to begin thinking about how to make a mod that granted clothing and especially armor an intimidation factor. And it may be (very) difficult or impossible to pull off but it would be worth the effort if it could be done.
