Hardcore mode is sweet! It's really starting to approach a more balanced game. In FO3 you could load up on stimpaks and then you are invincible and the game becomes too easy. In FNV hardcore mode, you really have a reason to look for food and drinks, etc., VATS does not make you invincible, and stimpaks healing effects are a lot more realistic and the game is much more fun on hardcore mode. In FO3, food and water are just a lot of junk to weigh you down because stimpaks are so powerful and weightless.

Unfortunatley, Bethesda/Obsidian did not go far enough. There is too much water and food easily available everywhere and sleep is only necessary every other day or so.

I don't know if anyone is already working on tweaks to hardcore mode for this mod, but I guarantee many players who have tried hardcore mode would love to see some of the following tweaks:

- a lot less effective reduction of FOD SLP DEH when drinking, eating, sleeping.

- less or no HP boost from drinking from the ubiquitous drinking fountains, toilets, sinks (or massive RAD penalty)

- slightly more weight to ammo, or lower carrying capacity overall

- possibly stronger penalties for dehydration/hunger/sleepiness

I agree that HC needs to be more challening. I think that making game more challening would be simply by raising cost of items and ammo in stores and reducing amount of stimpacks/food and other stuff in game world. It is also a little too easy to get lot of money by playing mini-games.

Fallout without hardcore mode would be to easy but when I played on hardcore mode I discovered that it is to easy too. I stopped playing and started moding. I want to make it more realistic.

I want to change many things in game but from what you mentioned I will change

-No hp for drinking water (but I dont know where is value for that)

-Higher RAD penalty from drinking fountains, toilets, sinks

-Lower maximum carrying capacity

-Stronger penalties for dehydration, hunger and lack of sleep

Im changing few other things too, for example:

- Much more darker nights (already done but I got problem with interior light, I can change amount of light in interior even to pitch black but I dont know how to make auto ambient light adjust when day starts :( I got problem with dust whirls ect. In dark they are not affected by ambient light and they stay gray while other objects and world is dark, I must remove them all from game :/ ) But what I already did with night is for me awesome. In vanila game nights are like cloudy day :/ it sucks!

-I removed eye zoom from weapons cuz it annoys me very much, its very unrealistic.

-I changed damage of all weapons and headshot too. Some characters got perk which makes them more resistant to damage (for example Sunny Smiles in goodsprings, while normal npcs die from 1 bullet to head, she needs 3 from varmint rifle) and because of that I must up damage to head even more. But to not make game easy player will die from head shot too so now combat is not like in fpp games, I must now hide behind obstacles and use strategies to attack. In vanila firefights was dumb and kamikaze like.

-In game there is something like auto aim I will disable it

-timescale is to fast it can be changed in console but I will implement it to my mod. Vanila x30 (30 hours in game = 1 hour in real time) mine is x6 (24h in game = 4 h in real time)

- I implement ideas from other mods, for example When player levels up then new monsters appears in world... I wil make it realistic and any monster could be respawned to game world. With my dark nights it will be very scary and dangerous to go out while night. So player will have reason to use sleep :) Tirednes will be set to withstand about 18h without penalties but when player will ignore sleep need then penalties will be harsh. Max days without sleep will be 5 but in 5th day playing will be VERY tough :) Life is not easy so in game I like to be the same ;)

-of course hunger and dehydration will be changed too to be more realistic. Penalties for not eating to. I will use mine experience from real life ( I will not experiment on myself lol I just will make stats to be like I would feel ect. Hunger penalties will be not so harsh because human body can live long without food, about 7 days but dehydration is very dangerous and drinking will be very essential.

- Im changing world too for example I edited doc house, I didnt understand why the hell I can grab everything from his house and nothing was his belongings... I also edited Easy pete house to be his. In his house there was free queens bed which player could use, now Pete is using it and for player I made mattress in school. I want to make most of npcs to go to sleep because in goodsprings some npc works all day and with my mod dark nights it looks more weird because they are working in darkness lol. Im afraid that in all fallout world some npsc just dont go to sleep and dont eat and editing all of them will be very hard and time consuming so I think that I will make it as other mod and I will edit it while playing. I like to see real behavior in games and this engine lets moder to do that. In other games npcs are instantly walking from place to place or standing in 1 place 24/7 and just waiting for player to talk to them :/ its dumb.

-Reload animations to be slower, but I dont know how to do this :/ I discovered parameters for that but they are not working and what they changed is speed of firing animation not reloading animation and jammed animation :/ weird.

-Weight to all iteams, its weird that stimpacks are weightless in hardcore mode. To bad that game uses pounds, Im using kilogrames, internet calculators will come in handy :)

-Hmm other minor things are for example: falling damage and height, carrying weight decrease, less weapon degradation, no force to ragdoll while death, crippled legs more penalty, killable kids, more zoom to binoculars, empty bottle from drinked up bottles. I will add more things which I discover in game and what I will not like. Some of things are already done by other moders but I will make them into my mod cuz I dont want any conflicts when I will put many mods together.

-I cant remember all mine changes and I dont know what I will discover in game and what I will mod but for now these are all my plans to make my own mod for me and maybe when I will manage to accomplish that then I maybe will post it on nexus page, for now lets hope other moders will make much realism tweaks to this game.

All that changes will make this game for me more immerse.

I would use help for problems that I mentioned.

I think the amount of ammo and stims available from traders really really needs to be both reduced and made more expensive. I am playing with the BlackCaravan HarderCore Pack, which does a great job, but I am still getting way more ammo than I think I should.

Awesome features you have described, Cosmic!

I'm really looking forward to your mod. I think it will be extremely popular. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

I dont know how long it will take to finish my mod. I must implement all things that I read about and what I dont like in game then I must finish game and add things that I discovered by playing. So I cant promise that it will be soon. I bet that you will find other mods that will do similar thing :] I just want to make everything by myself this time not like in F3 I gathered bunch of mods because 1 specific mod didnt have all what I wanted. When I forgotten about F3 because of lack of proper mod then WE was made but I didnt have chance to play F3 with WE but this mod has almost everything what i wanted. In NV I will do my own values and I will add mods from others for example, things like empty bottle after drinking from full bottle. Portable bedroll + camp fire, Backpack ect. :)

As for problems, those which I had I managed to deal with them but If there would be something and you still would be interested then Ill let you know.

I agree that ammo and stimpacks quantity must be limited and I will try to put it into my own mod.

I don't know if this is possible, but I think that the following should happen:

-Bleeding, as well as bandages and first aid kits.

-Radiation does minor progressive damage instead of acting as a debuff.

-Walking in radiation desaturates your view

I would like to see bleeding system in fallout. If there was in F3 mods then let me know.

I agree with radiation damage over time.

Walking in radiation has no instant effect in real life so this idea is not good. When radiation would be extremelly high then human would die in few seconds maybe minutes and before that he would feel dizzy.

stronger penalties doesnt balance this game, because its hard to ever get those penalties, there is food everywhere

balance it better by making food /water not heal you, only time heals you, and you heal according to your condition state (completely full on food/drink, then sleep for 24 hours should regen your health about 30%)

Also the real balance would be adding medicine for treating wounds, but just injecting a stimpack or requiring a doctors bag say you are out in the desert with no doctors bag, you should be able to make a make-shift splint or something, like in blade runner he tears cloth and binds his fingers together after they were broken

-No hp for drinking water (but I dont know where is value for that)

-Higher RAD penalty from drinking fountains, toilets, sinks

In the GECK, under Game Effects > Actor Effects. Filter for "WaterHeal". Each of those is the effects of drinking those types of water. To see what items that will affect you can right-click it and go to "Use-Info".

-Lower maximum carrying capacity

Menu Bar > Gameplay > Settings.... Filter by "CarryWeight". fAVDCarryWeightsBase is how much a player with 0 Strength can carry. fAVDCarryWeightMult is how much is added per Strength point.

-Stronger penalties for dehydration, hunger and lack of sleep

Game Effects > Actor Effects. Radiation(Number): Penalty for each level of radiation. Starvation(Number): Penalty for each level of hunger. SleepDeprivations(Number): Penalty for each level of lack of sleep. Dehydration(Number): Penalty for each level of dehydration.

-In game there is something like auto aim I will disable it

Maybe check the current mod out for this. It works quite well already.

-Weight to all iteams, its weird that stimpacks are weightless in hardcore mode. To bad that game uses pounds, Im using kilogrames, internet calculators will come in handy :)

The game is based off pounds, however I went through FO3 and changed it Kgs for myself.

Any other questions I can help you with mate?

I would like to see Bottles Water and those Trail Rations have multiple charges. Doctors Bags too.

Bottles of Water could have 4 charges, with a 4/4 next to the name of the item at full("Purified Water 4/4" for example.) and when you take a gulp, the item is replaced with a 3/4 version, then that one is replaced with a 2/4 version, then that one is replaced with a 1/4 version, then that one vanishes when used. I think there is too much water being drank as it is, so keep each gulp removing the same amount of H20 rating. Trail Rations could have a large payout, but would have its FOD rating lowered. Say about 6/6 or 8/8 for charges and have each helping offer around the same FOD rating as pinion nuts.

Doctors Bags could have several charges, about 5/5 to 10/10, but would be much heavier, much rarer, harder to make and would be more costly to buy. Say about 25-35 weight and would require Stimpacks, Scissors, various chems and maybe some other things to craft.
