bben46
The vanilla files are all in the bsa files. bsa is a proprietary BethesdaSoftworks compressed format that can be read by the game. To use any of them in your own mods you must first unpack the bsa . Don't do it in the data folder though as the game expects those assets to be in the bsa. When you create a mod with meshes or textures, the new meshes and textures will overwrite the vanilla ones each time you start the game - so the bsa files are never changed. If you need a new folder - for example the vanilla data folder doesn't have a textures folder. it will automatically be created if you extract a mod that needs it directly to the data folder - Or, you can create one and the mods will use it. KMA
This. Even though it was designed for F3 it works with F:NV. You have to have Java installed for it to work. If you dbl-click on the FO3Archive shortcut that the program makes (in its directory not your desktop) and you do not see a program launch then you know you need to install Java. It is pretty easy to figure out, File -> Open -> Pick the BSA you want to open and then Action -> Extra All file and pick the destination (it will automatically create the folders). Cheers, 4Aces
