allbread
Topic title and description pretty much say it all... Are the mods on DANexus specific only to Dragon Age Origins or are they applicable to Origins - Awakening and the DLC as well? Does it matter if I purchase the game through Steam - and is there a preferred Mod Manager (like with Oblivion and Fallout) that can be used to coordinate mods? Thanks! Does it matter if I purchase the game through Steam - and is there a preferred Mod Manager (like with Oblivion and Fallout) that can be used to coordinate mods? Thanks!a) Depends on the mod. Some work in both, but most work only in one or the other. If no mention of "Awakening" in the title or description, then chances are it won't work there. (But you never know... "Natural Bodies", for example, works in everything! ;) ) b) Purchased through Steam doesn't "break" anything, but the locations of various files may be different. In most cases you'll have to do the re-mapping yourself, but that's just a matter of putting the pieces of the mods in the "right-for-a-Steam-install" folder. c) There are only really two, "DAO-ModManager" (DAMM, and "DAModder" (DAM). Neither does what you might expect if you're used to the Mod Managers of other games. They do help with some of the housekeeping chores and in-game on/off selection of certain mods, but only for a (small) subset of the ones you're likely to use. DAMM (which is the one I use) handles those mods packaged as ".dazip" files, and also a few highly customizable ones packaged as ".override" files. DAM handles ".dazip" and ".zip" files (treating the latter as the former for all practical purposes.) But MOST of the mods you'll use will probably be ones you simply place in your "override" folder, which neither one handles at all! ;D
