Radio Bugs and Unpredictable Radio Behavior

So I've really been enjoying New Vegas, but there's one thing that's really killing me: The Radio. Not only does it rarely play anything at all, but when it does, it only plays Mr. New Vegas's news, absolutely no music, even on that particular station. Switching stations does nothing, as they similarly play absolutely nothing. I even tried installing a Radio Mod with additional songs, which worked for a while, until I switched stations, and now it's broken as well (it also doesn't play anything). I have no idea whatsoever as to what's causing this bug, but if someone's experienced it and fixed it, help would be greatly appreciated.

I've talked to some friends who also have the game, and at least one has experienced this bug as well.

I also ran into this problem on my second play through and haven't been able to fix it by updating my drivers or re-installation.Its truely annoying as at times there is a loud annoying clicking sound in place of the music also it is the same for me i only get news reports and music only from radios in the environment..no game or pipboy music.

there was a galaxy news radio fix for fallout 3, that changed all the radio songs to WAV files, then forced the game to play the WAV files, rather than their MP3 versions

there is a DIY guide, I tried making it myself in the GECK, and conerting all the files to WAV files for new vegas, but the problem still persisted.

Ok, I never had this issue but I found this in the NMA forums:

Ok, forget about that. I found my problem... explaining now...

My Realtek drivers were set for 5.1 sound properly, except that there was a "speaker fill" setting that was unckecked and this little setting apparently turns stereo-only signal into 5.1 signal.

So yeah, everything (ambient sound, footsteps, dialogue, radio announcer) was working fine except the radio music.

So, if you have a Realtek you might want to check that setting and even if you don't.... there might be a similar setting for your sound card too.

Turns out it's not really a bug.
