ScrooLoose
I want to make some custom weapons with models/textures from weapons that are allready in the game, so i dont want to create my own custom 3d models and animations etc... I can't figure out how to copy a certain weapon (for example the 9mm) and then change whatever i like without changing parameters of the original. How do i go about doing that ? I could create a weapon from scratch but when i have to choose the inventory image and the model and world model for the weapon (under the Art and Sound tab) then i run into trouble.I unpacked the model files to my HD but when i want to edit the model i go to the model file that i want but then it states "Invalid Directory" What am i doing wrong ? I'm using the official GECK editor
WastelandAssassin
so if i understand you correctly, you want to create a new version of an existing weapon, in the GECK??because that is very easy just choose the weapon you want, right click on it, and choose editthen change the ID of the weaponthen it asks you if you want to create a new item, say yesthen find your new weapon (the one with the new ID) and change whatever you want about itthen you just have to add the weapon to the game now, this could be done to every item, not just weaponsalso, you might want to give unique IDs to the items, to make finding them easier hope this helps :)
Kylefire
Are you also trying to remod the textures of the co-existing weapons?

WastelandAssassin
no problembeen doing such things for a while now, so i'm glad i could help :) just remembered one thing that you should knowif i understand correctly, the modifications of weapons is done through a scriptif that is the case, than you need to either remove that script from your weapon, or make a new one, and modify it, to give you your new weaponsbut i'm not sure how that system works, so you might not need to do anything
frank lee
Is it going to be much harder to take something that's not a weapon and give it a weapons attributes? If I wanted to take the Paint Gun from 'factory clutter (000ce385) and give it the animations from the 9mm with just (1) of damage and a 'trespass' crime value and (this is the biggie) leave one of the graffiti decals behind am I trying to join to many desperate elements here? I'm trying to get a spray can, tagging thing together but I'm a GECK novice.
