CasanovaFly
By the Nine Divines, I cannot get OBGE to work. Here's where I'm at:- well versed in Wrye Bash, can install other mods easily, though I have no other mods installed -- fresh Oblivion install- downloaded the OBGE files available here (Core v3.0.1, Standalone v3.0.1)- installed both via Wrye Bash- load Oblivion, go to my inventory where I find "OBGEv2 Support" and click, says it's going to open after I close the inventory, close inventory From here, the shader list comes up but I cannot enable any. It's my understanding that I've got to shift-click, but that doesn't work. It just flashes the menu, and the shader remains disabled (with a '-', not a '+'). My OBGE.ini file has bUseEffectList enabled (=1). I've tried editing my shaderlist.txt file with no luck. I've tried it empty, with 'Godrays.fx' and with 'Godrays.fx=1'. Nothing. I'm at my limits, here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
IkeCoast
Sorry to bring you the bad news, but OBGE is now obsolete. It has been superseded and replaced by the new Oblivion Reloaded. I recommend uninstalling OBGE and migrating to OR. Cheers!
CasanovaFly
Let me fix that for you: "Sorry to bring you the bad news, but OBGE is now obsolete. /s" OBGE has been a nightmare to try and configure, not least figure out. As long as Oblivion Reloaded has the features I want (namely Godrays, as well as Depth of Field, Liquid Water, and a few others to try out) then I could care less how they're delivered. As long as Oblivion Reloaded works (without the fits of rage I flew into with OBGE) then I thank you intimately, sir, and wish you the best of days, weeks, and years. IkeCoast
My gaming computer died some time ago so I can't play nor test by miself Oblivion Reloaded, but I know firsthandedly Alenet's reliability as a programmer. Some of his plug-ins gave new life to my old rig (before the Hecateae took it apart). I have read the description for Oblivion Reloaded and some comments there, and as far as my limited knowledge about this FX effects wizardry reach, I think yes, OR has these features you request and more. I have understood that OR is pretty stable and reliable when used alone, but if used in conjunction with some ENB troubles may arise. So, I really hope that OR is exactly what you need, matey. Because if it is not, I'm not sure about my ability to run faster than you. Cheers!
Timarot
Only reason to use OBGE now is if you need some specific things that were not implemented in OR right now. But OR is indeed stable(it actually made my game more stable then it was) even more - it actually help to stabilise game even more. With my loadorder of 200+ mod combination of Streamline(for save feature), OSR and OR I actually play with stable 30fps and dont experience any crashes(without OR it was minor random crashes after 1,5 hours of game)
forli
OR is also less heavier than OBGE on your CPU and graphic card (Alenet says it's 4 times faster than OBGE).
CasanovaFly
More stable, you say. Funny thing, I'm completely unable to get it working. I've installed it via Wrye Bash, but whenever I load up Oblivion, I get an immedate crash back to the desktop, with Windows telling me OblivionReloaded.dll was to blame. Any ideas? Timarot
What version of game are you use? Does OBSE work for you?
CasanovaFly
OBSE works, and using the version that Steam installs (1.2.0416, I believe). Anyway, problem solved: apparently neither Steam nor Oblivion decided to install the latest DirectX for me. Got that installed and it's working now. Odd, but oh well!
