Smooth613 Posted October 29, 2010 Share Posted October 29, 2010 What version of Wrye Bash do you have? That's a known problem with buggy versions. You should avoid 288 and 289. Only use either 287 or 290. Those 2 versions are considered stable and fully functional. I use 290 with zero problems. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
moeghoeg Posted January 31, 2011 Share Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) I know this is a very old thread, but I had a similar problem and thought that what I found out could be useful if someone else would experience this. I got the same error message regarding the 'C:\\Bethesda Softworks\\Oblivion\\Data\\???.txt'. It turned out that I had a txt file related to some mod (Silver Ranger I think) in Oblivion/Data that had its name written in some asian font. Since Wrye Bash or Python or whatever (I've just started usin Wrye Bash so I don't understand everything yet) can only read ANSI this file caused an error. After deleting the file, everything worked.
