BloodRaven666
Hi there, ugh, so I was googling for various mod screenshots for Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 and noticed how the whole pipboy is supposed to be visible, while in my game the pipboy is zoomed in. Here's what it should look like: http://www.critical-hits.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/pip-boy.jpg and here's what my pipboy looks like: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/1641/screenshot107se.png Now you might notice the custom pipboy skin, but no, it's not the cause, actually I installed it after I noticed I couldn't see the whole pipboy...with little hopes it would fix the problem and because I liked it. Now I'm not sure, but I think I had the same problem in Fallout 3, it might be due to resolutions I said, I tried changing the resolutions, texture sizes but nope. Oh, it might have something to do with the monitor resolution, but that seems awfully weird. There is only one other topic about this issue, and somebody said to try and type this in the console: "fPipboy1stPersonFOV" and possibly adding numbers from 60 to 80, but the problem is, I can't type anything in the console from Fallout: New vegas it's nothing urgent, but it's a big immersion ruiner and honestly just looks ugly, so any help would be much appreciated ;)
JoshQuake
Are you sure you can't type in the console? Just in case you didn't know, the console button is "~". It may seem like it isn't doing anything, but press it once and start typing. You will notice the text is displayed in the bottom left corner. If you are using the 360 controller, simply change control settings to keyboard first and switch it back after.
BloodRaven666
ye I know the usual, I played FO3 and Oblivion ;) yeh it's cedilla, I press it, press it twice, but nothing, I can't see the text :( EDIT: maybe there is a special procedure of enabling the console for New Vegas? JoshQuake
Hmm worked right off the bat for me. There is a topic a few pages in. Try the suggestions Here
makarrr
I think the zoomed view is intentional and depends on your aspect ratio. The "correct" screenshot you posted is widescreen while your own is pretty much as square as a monitor can be. The proper way to handle widescreen resolutions in a game is to show more of the sides and that's what's happening here, if you google for pipboy screenshots in 1280x1024, they look just like yours. somebody said to try and type this in the console: "fPipboy1stPersonFOV" and possibly adding numbers from 60 to 80, but the problem is, I can't type anything in the console from Fallout: New vegasThe console appears off the screen in 1280x1024 unless you change ConsoleTextXPos to 200 in the ini file, as mentioned in the thread linked in the post above. I don't know how to change these variables from the console, but the ini file also has the fPipboy1stPersonFOV setting. If you set that to about 60 you get to see the entire pipboy. :) fPipboy1stPersonFOV=60.0 (default is 47.0)http://imgur.com/Hhl3fl.jpg
BloodRaven666
kudos to you all, and hats off to makarrr, but there's a problem..aaagrh, so you see, falloutNV.ini is automatically set to read only, and when i untag the box in properties and save the changes, they are not save and it's read only again. I need to disable that somehow. Using the console...I didn't use the "=" and it would probably work if I did, now there's a problem too. I'm having an European/Croatian keyboard and don't know how to type "="...yeah i know :P I mean I do, but fallout steam version recognizes an US keyboard(same thing with Oblivion and FO3) and I don't know what key on my keyboard is used as for an American "=" Sorry if I confused you, I confused myself :D Now, I think any of the two solutions would do fine, going to google and try find them myself, I'll tell you if I manage to make it work ;)
BloodRaven666
WOHOO! Got it working, I was changing the ini in my games/falloutNV instead of the ingame one...faceplam. Now it seems a bit too small, going to play with it some more :) Thanks a lot once more.
