SageRuffin
Salutations. As it's said in the topic description, this will be quick. Those of you who read my thread in the Newbies section may recall me wanting to create some custom armor at some point. So what I wanna know is this: can you "draw" a design on currently existing armor using, say, Photoshop similar to how to create custom tattoos (which I marvelously jacked up)? That's really all right now. The rest I'll let come with time and experimentation (and research). Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a blonde French-Korean lesbian rogue to create. Good day everyone. DarkeWolf
Heyas Sage- welcome to the nexus! :) technically... in photoshop, no. Not directly on the armor. There are some (very costly) 3d manipulation programs which can allow you do that tho. Mudbox is one.... others arent coming to mind, but I know that they're out there.Photoshop can handle the actual graphics files. The texture files, the bump files, and the other files that handle tints (I think)This area really is NOT my cup of tea. But since nobody else is offering up, I do want you to get at least what little info I can give you. Now if you havnt ever worked with a texture file before, opening it up and looking at it can be a daunting experience. They aren't normal pictures as you would imagine them. Some of them are such a garbled up jumble of a mess that you can barely tell what is what. The reason for this is that they are made to "wrap around" the mesh, which is the wireframe skeleton of the actual figure. for photoshop to handle the .dds format of the texture files, you will need the .dds plugin from nvidia (google nvidia .dds plugin ) and you should find it. I will also HIGHLY recommend NOT Installing the nvidia .dds viewer plugin (which lets you (SUPPOSEDLY) view .dds files in windows explorer.) I dont recommend it, because it can completely jack windows explorer up, and cause you a lot more trouble than you want ;) I do wish that I could help you out more than that, but thats about as far as my knowledge runs. :( Wish you the best of luck with your mod, and happy gaming :)-DW Edited October 28, 2010 by DarkeWolf
SageRuffin
Hmm... I guess my search for knowledge continues. I appreciate the response. I was beginning to think I was "too much of a hapless n00b" for my query to warrant one. :P Ah well... I'll think of something. Thanks again. DarkeWolf
Nah, its not so much that. Its that a lot of the people on here don't do a lot of mods, or dont do a lot of mods involving models and textures. Those that do/did... either have moved on to other games, are very busy and dont post much anymore, or just dont come into the forums very much. Sorry that I couldnt completely help you out. But, again... I definitely wish you luck in your endeavors :)

But, again... I definitely wish you luck in your endeavors :) actualy editing a texture in photoshop isnt that tough if your at all artistic. Once you extract it (excelent tutorial on the toolset wiki) it realy is as simple as editing the part you want to change (WARNING: expect lots of trial and error to make it actualy fit the way you want it to). I am relitivly new to moding for DA, but I figured if I could make meshes and skins in SL I should be able to figure this moding thing out.
