Nvidia lag fix

At this site http://geekmontage.com/texts/fallout-new-vegas-game-fixes-crashes-audio-issues-lag-saving/ I found what appears to be a solution to Nvidia lag. Here is what it says:

So, unlike the above game fix, this is aimed specifically to help those with NVIDIA video cards. Note that if you do NOT have this issue, it has been reported that older drives don't have this problem with the game, and that newer drivers do play the game without issue at this given time (October 19th, 2010). This WILL be fixed so don't feel as if you will never be able to update your drivers again. On the contrary, as mentioned above, it will improve your performance eventually once more updates come out.

1. Add a custom NVIDIA Game / Applications profile for "Fallout: New Vegas"

2. For that profile, change the "Power Management" from "Adaptive" to "Max Performance"

That *should* fix your problem. For those having trouble locating this feature, go to--

My Computer -> Control Panel -> NVIDIA Control Panel -- and it's under "Manage 3D Settings".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I would really like to test this out to see if my game works however I'm having some problems. In the instructions and in an image on the site it shows Power Management. That option does not appear on mine however and I'm not quite sure what to do. When I added the New Vegas application, I went into C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\common\falloutnewvegas

I added both FalloutNV.exe and FalloutNVLaunched.exe. Launcher however is the only one that gives me the choice of pressing "remove". Which one of these should I be using or should I use something else entirely?

i found a way to solve the micro freezes/stutters when moving the camera around in exterior(doesn't happen in interior). I just set "water multisampling" in the launcher options to "low", and now my game is perfect. I also have 260.99 drivers, and i deleted the D3D9.DLL file fix. I run the game in 1280x1024, AAx4, aniso X10, everything else maxed out (except of course the water multisampling option).

I have :

amd X2 3200mhz

9600GT 512mb

2gb of ram

win xp sp3

You, mister, are a saint! I've been days in and out trying to figure out how to fix it! And, if I put water sampling to low, bingo! There's no more glich then outside, everything is fluid! (And I personally looked at your reply cause your PC is slightly lower then mine and I had SO much trouble!!!

Intel Core2Duo 3.1ghz

Asus GTS250 512mb

4gb of ram

Windows 7 Ultimate

Thank you!

Thanks for the advice phago but that dosen't seem to help with my game at all. It's not only the exteriors I'm having freezing with but interiors as well. I tried your method outside though and the game seemed to actually get worse. I'm not really sure why but again thanks for trying to help
