replacing the legion gladius with an actual gladius

My idea is to replace the legion gladius machete with an actual gladius as well as an intricately detailed unique version. The standard gladius should look fairly warn and slightly rusted as one would assume an exotic weapon such as this would not be easy to come by in the united states and would have to be either very rusted and damaged or made of scrap metal, the unique version however i imagine would be highly well crafted and be given to a high ranking member of Caesar's legion.

But where would they get such pristine and rare items? Logicly however, one thing about the Legion could be that Ceasar was inspired to form The Legion when he stumbled upon some Roman artifacts in a museum, with him and his most trusted generals and elite gaurds with the actual Roman artifacts.

Like i said the standard sword would almost definitely need to have been made by the legion itself as it would be hard to come by in such large a quantity, perhaps the unique version was crafted by the Caesar's Legion blacksmith for a high ranking legionnaire? or discovered in a museum in Texas, past the cyclones?
