I've had it with all the bugs

Ok, so this run through I have worked for the NCR. PERIOD. No deviations. I am now at the point where I am to protect Kimball from getting killed. But I really don't care if they kill him or not now. They still view me as "Neutral". I should at least be "Liked" by now. So what gives? Anyway I can set the faction favor via console?

You must've done something to decrease your rep with them. I'm only now at the strip, haven't done any missions for the ambassador, but i'm liked by the NCR. remember that increasing rep with opposing factions can lower your rep with others. I don't know who all is opposed to the NCR, (someone who's looked into factions and reps in the geck might know) but maybe you did a mission for an opposing faction? I lost rep with the followers by working with the brotherhood, not knowing they were opposed.

*Cough*

What armor are you wearing?

I found out this little...surprise myself.

With my NCR Ranger Combat Armor (Yes, the really cool ranger armor)..NCR views me as "Neutral".

Yet if I take it OFF...the true faction favor of Idolized is shown.

Some factions behave differently to faction armor, its odd as hell.

Whatever you are trying to do, take your faction armor off first and that SHOULD solve it.

(PS: Wearing NCR faction armor into BoS Base = Angry People )

EDIT: After rereading the original post...and the fact it shows Neutral to him...yeh im almost sure he is wearing faction armor.

Yeah, the game can be bugged at that point depending what you do. I chose to do quest for Mr. House and NCR lost respect for me. When it came to that same mission, the objective would disappear when I got there. I had to use a stealth boy to even get to talk to the general. I think it's possible if you disguise as the NCR you can do it.

Dont you wish being idolized meant something? Like discounts at merchants or being able to buy faction armor (the cool NCR ranger armor for instance).

The only time ive so far found being liked/idolized meaning a thing was with BoS cause they give you a bunch of free energy ammo. It aint much but its something.

Ok well Novac gives you a motel room.

Short of that stuff..idolized means not much.

As for the OP's issue.

If you aint wearing faction armor then i have NO idea what youve done or what could have bugged out on ya.

If you walk around the Towns your idolized in the Named NPC's of that faction will respond to you with more admiration. Merchants of that faction do give discounts for being a member, but only certain Unique NPC's of that faction have a dialog option to either lower the price or nab free loot. After I blew up the Brotherhood of Steel bunker for the The House Wins quets my Fame skyrocketed so far up that even with the accidental detonation of 10 C4 blocks on Camp Forlorn Hope barely made a dent in my Reputation with the NCR.

And the disguise system works to allow your character to get past points where they might not otherwise survive. Think back on a great game called Hitman. Once 47 had a costume on, he could go anywhere that costume was allowed. Same with the New Vegas armors, if your wearing Leigon Recruit and try to pass a security door, the others get suspicous. Yet if your wearing Veteran grade armor your character can pass without a hassle.

Want to get anywhere in the NCR Bases? Wear the Black Ranger armor, or the NCR Heavy Trooper armor which still counts as Power Armor but is not going to get you shot like Brotherhood armor. My example for the Leigon is above and can apply to most of the factions. Only hard time I had was trying to sneak in to Vault 3 dressed as Cook-Cook only to be murdered rather quickly.

Ave,

Doc
