Smooth613
This has been posted previously but again to re-enforce the procedure. If you've already installed to an alternate location, not protected by UAC, the first part doesn't apply to you. Skip to the installation instructions.[/line] Well first you installed to a protected directory and that's likely your cause for the issues you have.File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Bad idea to install Oblivion and mods there. You'll only have issues with mods and utilities due to UAC. UAC doesn't like it when files are altered in anyway and sees this as a security threat. This is why you should always install Oblivion outside of Program Files to a directory such as <drive letter>:\Games\Oblivion. Follow Bben's Installation Procedure to reinstall outside of a protected directory. In all likelihood this alone will solve any issues you have and prevent weird issues from happening in the future. Upon reinstalltion you need to ensure you properly install Wrye Bash and the Python Libraries. Proper procedure is as follows. Go to Control Panel and remove anything with the word Python in it.Next, uninstall Wrye Bash and delete the Mopy folder. If you used the installer version you should have an uninstaller as well. After you have removed everything related to Python and Wrye Bash it's time to reinstall, properly.Install WryePython03a from the Wrye Bash page here on TESNexusInstall Wrye Bash 275 from the Self-InstallerUpdate to Wrye Bash 287 by overwriting the Oblivion\Mopy folder. Finally, Update to Wrye Bash 290 by again overwriting the Mopy folder. Go to your Oblivion Mopy folder and create a shortcut for Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw and send to desktop. You're done! Double click the shortcut and Wrye Bash should launch and you're good to go. Wrye Bash v291 will be released as a full Self-Installer version and will eliminate many of the above steps. It's currently in BETA and it's working very well, I've had virtually no problems with v291. The full release to the public should happen in the near future so keep your eyes open for it. The Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide for Newbies is also an excellent way to get your hands dirty with Wrye Bash. Check it out! If Wrye Bash fails to start or you are still having issues, first check in your Oblivion\Mopy folder for a pidfile.tmp. If that file is present and Wrye Bash is not running, delete it. Then try to start Wrye Bash again. If that fails you need to post the bug dump information in the Official Thread @ BethSoft for someone to look over. Good luck! GooeyGungan
Jediron: If I recall correctly, I had similar problems until I installed the latest version of Wrye Python. You can find it on the Wrye Bash page which Smooth613 so kindly linked in the post before this one. Hope this helps!-GG
Jediron
Thanks Smooth613 an dGooeyGungan, for the help. Didn't need all of that info, Smooth; i know the "drill". Aldo call me stupid, for some reason i installed Wyre Python 2.5 i see, lets hope thats the whole issue :-)Gooey is spot in, never figured it out myself; thought i used the Python from te link you gave me ..haha (been there, missed it.. :wallbash: ) Oke guys, managed to install 290 of Wyre Bash, with the proper Pythin version. Gave BOSS a run to manage the load order, then went into Wyre Bash, selected all the mods (after trashing some mods which would conflict for sure) and then made a Bashed Patch, following instruction of a good picture rich guide. Anyway, sofar no luck. Oblivion CTD's within seconds, all the time. Tried it ten times or so, with less and less mods, but no luck. What's wrong here ? When i disable the bashed patched file, Oblivion runs fine. So it must be something with the bashed file.....what am i missing ?Anyway, aldo the game runs oke there are still some glitches to sort out. Fixed some with my manual moving around of the load order only to discover that somewhere else there are still things to tackle; like the waterfront area, where the ships run aground (one half of the port the water is gone  , while at the other half the water is oke. Also i see a white, egyptian lookin vessel in the dried up "left" port. Where did that come from ? Oke, figured it out; the ship comes with Better cities..lolThe water issue occured, while i increaced the ugridtoload in Oblivion ini to 15 (default=5). Another mod suggested this increase, without any word about water texture issue's only a little about "videoram can run out of space" .... so inbetween loading could be affected. Well, if it only was the last, i would be happy. Game is up and running now, with most of my prefered mods. Without Wyre Bash though; that program gives me a headache from here to Tokyo.
