lastofthelight
So, I havn't played Oblivion since around OBSE 16 or 17 or so. And OBSE is now up to 19. Since then, a few things seem to have changed. I used to use Supreme Magicka, but according to the comments I'm seeing on its comment thread, it isn't compatible since OBSE 18 was released. Does anyone know if this is true or false? If this is true, what is your preferred 'current' magic overhaul? I'm currently going through mods and installing them. I think I'm going to try out Fran's this time, and play a pure mage,so I want a good magic overhaul mod.
MrJim
Midas magic is what I use, it seems a little overpowered but when you consider that your player cannot regenerate magicka at the usual rate, (It regenerates very very slowly) that is a fair trade off which, to my mind makes up for teh increased power of the spells. One of my favourite features is bound or summoned items which were previously next to worthless, they now endure for a reasonable length of time and, in the case of summoned creatures, there is a chance of summoning more than one of that particular creature if your skill level is high enough. This mod, (Midas) is also excellent in partnership with OOO, MMM, Frans and FCOM, as it gives the player a riposte when encountering the inevitable high level enemies early in the game and thus a higher chance of survival without being too completely superior. Midas also seems to apply to NPC magic users also and they are much more deadly than their vanilla counterparts. An excellent mod, I highly recommend it. Tushaar
Midas doesn't actually change magicka stuff does it? I thought it only adds spells to the game and adventures to make them. The best magic overhauls are Supreme magicka and LAME (less annoying magicka experience) So if you can't use SM anymore, try LAME :)
Nadimos
SM is not compatible with OBSE anymore? Thats news to me, cause last time i used it... well i have not play-tested it thoroughly, but it did seem to work. Can you show me the comments? Im puzzled. Midas is a must-have in any way. So try that and be a lame user. ;D Like LAME. The magic overhaul. Just make sure to load it after those other big overhauls. ;)
Balakirev
I've been using OBSE 18 for some time, and both SM and LAME. I've not noticed any problems with the magic system in either. What's your source for a conflict between SM and OBSE v18?
MrJim
Midas doesn't actually change magicka stuff does it? Yeah, it does, it makes it so that you have to drink potions or absorb spells to regenerate magicka without resting.
Tushaar
umm thats weird because i thought already in vanilla oblivion the mana regenerated in real time :O

chronosmagus
I'm still using Mighty Magick with the current OBSE and it seems to be doing okay. I'm using the older version of MM instead of the 'revived'.
Nealus
I absolutely love Fearsome Magicka, but you have to install a ton of required programs before you start :)
