Oblivion Race Port for NV

I know the human skeleton got modded in Fallout 3 to support oblivion, and several sets of armor and clothing also got ported, that's not an issue. I'm just wondering how hard it would be to take a custom race from oblivion which has custom textures and animations included within it, and then place support for said race (updated for .esp compatibility of course) into New Vegas alongside an updated skeleton mod. I don't really have interest in using it for my character, but there are some custom race companion mods for oblivion that would make nice companions in New Vegas as well.

 

I have no experience with anything other than world mapping (In Source Engine) and skeletons / limited animations for Oblivion, so this falls a bit outside my realm. I am however willing to do whatever coding / converting is needed for said project myself if someone can get me started off. It seems like a big project to me now and I'm afraid if I just jump in I'll drown myself.

Much to my surprise after further testing, I was able to just drop the race esp, meshes and textures directly into the data folder, activate the mod in the game loader, and it runs fine without alteration. Now I just need to make a companion spawn in the world based on this mod... :confused:
