nkkrustev Posted October 28, 2010 Share Posted October 28, 2010 Hi, first i would like to say im amazed by the quality and ideas of most mods here, they are simply great :)Now to the topic at hand:not so long ago Barret Arms showed their new prototype anit-material rifle that uses a 25mm HE ( High Explosive Dual Purpose) rounds scaled down from their original design - the 30mm HEDP rounds fired by Hughes M230 Chain Gun (the Apache gunship cannon) The gun stats in real life u can see here: XM-109 description and fotosNow i do have very nice idea how this can be implemented ingame, tho i cant make it as i lack the experience to make it nice, so im just gonna tell u my ideas and hopefully someone of u pro modders will make it:- There are ton of pictures in google that shows the gun from all sides, that should be good grounds for a nice realistic model- Although its a sniper rifle i think the ingame rules about which skill applies should be followed e.g. it should fall under the Explosives skill (since its clearly an end-game weapon it should have requirement of 90-100 Explosives skill and 8 STR)- The rifle is a 5 round semi-auto IRL and i think its should be like that in game as well. It also uses spring recoil compensators, allowing the barrel to move, if such animation can be added it will be a blast.- Now im not sure if thats actually editable or not but it would be nice if the kill cam/ VATS animation matches those of the sniper rifles- There are 25mm ammo ingame already, i would like to see the more advanced HEDP rounds tho: like the 25mm HE that are already there but should also decrease target DT (in real life the armor piercing actually affects only the target hit, like all HEAT type rounds, the "dual purpose" comes from the fact that the shell casing is made to fragment on impact delivering high damage to infantry and soft targets even without direct hit).- Not sure about the actual damage stats it should have, but defiantly more that a single shot from Mercy or grenade machine gun. Im unsure how its works but if possible it should deliver a lot of dmg to the target hit, and like only 50% as splash, so it doesnt go crazy unbalanced- IRL the rounds fly at much slower, subsonic speeds, compared to a .50 BMG for example, that should be reflected ingame- The gun should have a flat trajectory, despite it fires 25mm grenades ( note that in reality theres a major difference between the 25mm grenade rounds used by some weapons, and the 25mm cannon rounds, since the latter have much more powder charge and are designed to fly relatively straight to target)That sure is a lot but i hope some of u pro modders gets excited about this as much as i am and makes it...wish i had the time to learn how to do it myselfThanks in advance! :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

nkkrustev Posted October 28, 2010 Author Share Posted October 28, 2010 U are right about that, he did made a model of the weapon, but my request is pointed not so much to the model itself as to the weapon integration in the gameplay...like it was part of it originally. That mostly goes to being somewhat balanced, like it should NOT 1 shot a pack of deathclaws on very hard difficulty...i dont know if u can separate the splash from the hit damage...it will kinda suck if u cant.Anyway hope he reads this topic and get some ideas, if not ill just get wut he makes :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
