potemkis
I've scoured the forums and the web, but I can't find any info on this. Even the wiki wasn't much help. But if anyone knows how to turn an old player character (say, like my first character), into a companion or even an npc that you may meet up with, could you please give me some tips, point me in the direction of a good tutorial, or even write one up yourself. I'd like to do it for my own mod that I'm planning (only in rough draft right now). Thanks in advance!

Or are you looking for the exact, complete character (Face, Name, Class, Stats, Talents) to appear as a NEW NPC, who then behaves appropriately? (No dual-wielding Mages, for example.) The former is certainly possible (even a name change might be easy) as a "manual mod". The latter would require a full NPC mod along the lines of "Ser Gilmore", but one dynamic enough be able to read existing .dds files and incoprorate what's there. Not sure if that's possible at all.
potemkis
Yes- just like the Ser Gilmore and the other companion mods! Basically just being able to meet up with them as a quest partner be it permanent or temporary with (hopefully) friendship meter and approval/ disapproval, conversation, etc. I have a full storyline written out along as map sketches, conversations, everything. I am also working on new weapons, armor, and maybe even a new creature or two if I can figure out how to do it... But first, the previous character companion issue! DarkeWolf
http://social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Tutorials#Companion_Tutorialsits a LOT of work. You'll also need the face replacer, in order to extract the face morph from your savegame file, to use for the new character.http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=
potemkis
Sweet! Thanks to both of you! And hopefully soon I'll have a new adventure!
DarkeWolf
No problem at all ;) Definitely wish you good luck with your mod. It sounds like a really cool idea. I know its going to be a lot of work, and things to learn, but it sounds like an idea worth the patience and effort
potemkis
It's a pretty in-depth storyline. I think I may end up having to cut some... not much though...
