pchefkent
Hi I found a really nice 1st person model for the trail carbine in the geck, Its a model for a laminated stock, forged steel receiver, scoped version( I guess that the devs did not include this in the game). When I went to extract it with FO3 Archive I could not find the specific model in the BSA. All that were there was the standard and the scoped version. The nif files have the same name in the geck( i think its data/weapons/2handrifle/trail or somthing like that) but when you open the edit window they are distinct from one another. Can anyone give me an idea where to look? Thanks in advance.
XSoldier
That's just the Scoped Trail Carbine with textures slapped on. It isn't a new mesh. Since it's textures, look inside the Textures2.bsa
pchefkent
Thanks for the reply. I'll Try it when I get home tonight. Will I have to fool around with the textures/meshes to make it appear as a world object and not just a first person model? I'm kinda new to this aspect of modding. The extracting of files from BSA I mean.

XSoldier
I don't know of this .baf format. I only use Photoshop and its NVIDIA .dds plugin to edit .dds files
pchefkent
My bad its a mesh format not a texture format. Now i have to learn how to wrap the mesh with the texture... fun.. NOT! What program should i use to do this?
XSoldier
You use nifskope to modify .nif files. If the mesh is just a texture change and not altered in any form, using a texture set in the GECK is a good way to swap textures.
