Armor of the Sten

This isn't really a new model but can anyone make an armor set for human males like cgramnae's Armor of the Sten? What I did try to do myself was to replace the texture of akgyi's Original Duncans Armors (http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=618) with the Armor of The Sten (http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1185) texture, but I'm a complete noob at modding so I thought I could ask. I did understand however that I should replace the texture of each of the components but the problem is that I simply don't know how to do that.

It would be really cool if someone could do this, cause i found a female version of the armor on http://social.bioware.com/project/2975/#gallery, so why should male characters stay without?

P.S.

Sorry for my bad English, I'm from the Baltic states. :)

Oh c'mon! This couldn't be that hard! I figured out that I have to use the DATool but it won't read the Armor of the Sten Textures. :(

Could anyone at least tell me why this can't be done? I mean it's not like cgramnaes won't allow to post this....

Your attitude is probably why you haven't received response...it is what kept me from posting until now. Asking for help then and then saying "Oh.c'mon. It can't be that hard" isn't a good way to get it. Take this information however you want.

As for your question, this mod might not work if the armor of the Sten might be for Qunari only, you can try it. It is No Restrictions....I don't use it myself but it would be a good place to start if you can't make the armor for yourself and can't get others to do it for you.

Sorry about my attitude  It's just that I have been messing around with this for days now with no success and seeing that nobody would give any sort of tips or advice on this just added to the frustration. Sorry...

I have done that no restrictions thingy already but it just show's my characters head floating around in midair. So I guess that you are correct about the armor being Qunari only. But isn't it possible to copy the texture itself somehow? Cause it seems that the mesh has been scaled and that's it. It's that same Duncan's armor mesh only... bigger. Couldn't the texture be applied to a smaller mesh somehow?

I had the idea to mod akgyi's Original Duncans Armor so it could be used as an armor set. So to do that I should replace the texture of not only the armor but the gloves and boots as well, so that there wouldn't be any clipping. The problem is that DATool won't read the textures. Is it because they are Qunari textures?

What you suggest was so much easier in the Oblivion environment. I think to have a Qquanari armor work on a human or elf, you would have to convert that armor in either Blender, 3dsmax, or equal program. I sure you can't just scale it in the toolset. Here is the place at the Nexus that has the info on those 2 programs....3D Modeling

This is awesome! Thanks a lot! :woot: I'm going to check this out right away!

In the mean time however it seems that I found sort of like a backup plan yesterday.

Anyway it turns out that I'm a moron and didn't read the comments on (http://social.bioware.com/project/2975/#comments) and it seem's that I could retexture Duncan's dark armor instead. The only thing I don't fully understand is how to do this = Quote: "If you wanted to use one of ChiZ's reskins you'd have to go in and manually copy and then rename the files to match the naming convention of Duncan's armor."

pm_bdy_duna_0d.dds

pm_bdy_duna_0n.dds

pm_bdy_duna_0s.dds

I kinda don't quite get this and maybe you or someone else could explain this process in a "step-by-step for noob's" kind of way? :D

What they mean by that is the new textures will have different file names and have to be renamed to match the original textures. You have to rename them and then over write the the original Duncan textures with the renamed ones. For example:

Say one of the Duncan armor textures is:

pm_bdy_duna_0d.dds

and the replacement texture you want to use is:

pm_bdy_retdc_0d.dds

You have to rename pm_bdy_retdc_0d.dds to pm_bdy_duna_0d.dds and then copy it over the original texture in the file that has the Duncan armor you use. I would highly recommend copying and saving the original Duncan textures in a safe place in case you make a mistake.

Oh my God! Thank you so much! :woot: Kudos for you!

I'm gonna use this until I get that better solution working. Damn this is sooo badass!

Thanks again!
