rgx02
Great thanks! EDIT:As far as fomm and rar/multi-rar go, what I did with the full texture pack mod was simply downloaded all 5 rar's to my downloads folder then ran fomm's package manager and choose "add" then pointed it to the first rar package and clicked ok...it extracts/(decompresses?) it (all 5) and makes the mod! It seemed to have worked?? I hope?!!! The textures look much better than prior? Any chance here that it only extracted and installed the first rar and not following 4? I will install the max bumpmaps when I get home later. Should I go ahead and install the Purge Cell Buffers anyway for piece o f mind? Or only if it starts stuttering? Last question i promise  I'm constantly tweaking my .ini for best visuals....with 6GB of DDR3 1066 RAM installed, what values do you suppose are optimal for these two lines? uInterior Cell Buffer=uExterior Cell Buffer= Right now i've got interior at 32 and exterior at 288 I also bypassed Games for Windows LIVE so I can run the 4GB of RAM enabler (64bit sees 4 GB now) Any chance here that it only extracted and installed the first rar and not following 4?Dunno  If anything seems weird later just delete the texture fomod then recriate with winrar. Should I go ahead and install the Purge Cell Buffers anyway for piece o f mind? Or only if it starts stuttering?Better if you install it only if it gets weird with the textures as purge cell MAY(as it may not, dont know how it works exactly) cause crashes. Install it only after for peace of mind, if you do tell me if it helps.
baschulz1
OK i'll post back here tonight. Ya that link to the tweaks guide is actually where I got my values from..interior 32 and exterior 288. Just wasnt sure If I had it all wrong/optimized for 6GB RAM! I have not added the lineinumhwthread=2 to my general section .ini as my game does not currently freeze? With an i7 quad core, should I set this to 2 or 4? or again, is this a performance tweak or a fix should you have issues? Kind of dont fix it if it aint broke!? Kind of dont fix it if it aint broke!?Some people claim the game works fine with it set to 4, some that patch 1.5 broke multi core support and you cant set it higher than 2. Its kind of a waste to not use the full power of an i7, especially because you'll probably have lags with the new textures (or maybe you only need a nice graphics card). Set the option to 4, if its crashing galore then set to 2. If you still have crasshes try settings things like the ones bellow. baschulz1
Hey. So I downloaded the 3 parts to max bumpmaps via winrar, deleted numbers and -, then opened fomm/package manager and simply choose add mod and pointed to the first part and it worked just as it did with the full texture pack. I now have both mods side by side. I haven't noticed too much of a difference graphic/texture wise thus far though? :teehee: I added iNumHWThread=4 to my .ini file and havent noticed much of a difference either? It didn't crash before and it doesnt now so :ninja: It does stutter a tiny if Im outside and a LOT of detail is demanded but nothing very noticeable...I think no matter what specs you have on your computer, some games e.g fallout 3 are just stutter prone and it is more of the gamebryo engine than your computer.. Haven't done the Purge cell buffers mod as I dont think it is needed with me having this much RAM installed??? You Stated:My fallout ini:uInterior Cell Buffer=16uExterior Cell Buffer=102 This seems too low? Currently I have 32/288 Edited November 7, 2010 by baschulz1

It does stutter a tiny if Im outside and a LOT of detail is demanded but nothing very noticeable...I think no matter what specs you have on your computer, some games e.g fallout 3 are just stutter prone and it is more of the gamebryo engine than your computer..Try this http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8886, see if it helps. Haven't done the Purge cell buffers mod as I dont think it is needed with me having this much RAM installed???The more stuff on the memory, the worse, it will cause crashes more often. If your game is running normally then no worries about installing this. You Stated:My fallout ini:uInterior Cell Buffer=16uExterior Cell Buffer=102 This seems too low? Currently I have 32/288Mine was crashing a lot, so i changed a few config to see if it helps. At least i think it helped, maybe its a placebo effect or murphys law. baschulz1
Thanks rgx- I am feeling the texture/detail of the environment much more esp around dusk and in the morning or at dawn. wow what depth to every little thing, and the reflections are amazing! I have found that setting my grass range to 700-800 helps everything. Then again when you can view over 700-800 you see the grass "populate" and some people don't like this. dosent bother me. I really wish I could take a hi-res screen shot for you. I am a huge stalker fanatic and had a heavily modified game/ltx in Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat (WOW TALK ABOUT ATMOSPHERE) so I am used to modding the x-ray engine. Its funny bc I never knew there was this much mod support and ini tweaking for this Gamebryo engine. Anyway, is there a way for me to take a nice screenshot? lol, placebo and murphys law on a lot of this stuff ha! Hey, if it makes us feel better. rgx02
How to take screenshots ingame:http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/918428-fallout-3/answers?qid=26589 Find Fallout.ini in /My Documents/My Games/Fallout3. Make sure bAllowScreenShot is set to 1, and if isn't, set it to 1 (bAllowScreenShot=1). In game, press the Print Screen key. You should get a message saying a screenshot was taken. They will be in your Fallout 3 install directory. I am a huge stalker fanatic and had a heavily modified game/ltx in Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat (WOW TALK ABOUT ATMOSPHERE) so I am used to modding the x-ray engine. If you use Martigen mutant mods (i think its it) some of the dogs turn into pseudo dogs from stalker. I'm also a stalker fanatic, i'm just waiting for the mod "stalker call of prypiat complete" to play prypiat, the other two i've already finished. Clear sky sucks BTW. baschulz1
Great I will post some screenshots tonight! Thanks for the heads up on Clear Sky..ya I totally skipped over it due to the concensus that it BLOWS! (Bugs/factions) = Ghey I was running Pavel's Stalker COMPLETE on Shadow of Chernoybl and it sounds like he's coming out with a COMPLETE for Call of Pripyat huh? Awsome! Looks like I'll be reinstalling Call Of Pripyat again! When you start Call of Pripyat, after installing COMPLETE, install a mod called "Atmosfear". It will look sick!! Pripyat is amazing..weapons are stellar! Your in for a treat
