ravenousred Posted February 8, 2015 Share Posted February 8, 2015 I've done some searching but I haven't really found anything that is currently working or maintained, but I've always thought it would be neat to have a playable skeleton race for Skyrim. However, rather than just copying the existing skeleton race in the game, a new custom one could be created to get around many of the issues using the existing one would create. The race would lack most sliders/options in character creation, but could have new ones to change bone tint/color, eye glow, etc.The race would be compatible with armors in the game. This one is a big one, since the current "not working" skeleton mods aren't compatible with any armor at all. It would be neat to customize your skeleton with existing armor. Mage robes? Heavy armor? Etc.The race could have a custom passive that would be befitting of a skeleton race. I'm not quite sure what it would be but I'm sure somebody more creative could think of something. I think this would be a very interesting mod and would let you have a new perspective on the game. I don't have any experience with creating mods at all but I think it would be interesting and I'm posting this in case somebody else with the proper skills would think so too. There is a lot of potential for this mod, from the most important basics (skeleton race working with armors) to other crazy ideas I thought up: Custom vampire lord model that is also a skeleton.Custom werewolf model that is also a skeleton. ravenousred Posted February 9, 2015 Author Share Posted February 9, 2015 Okay so I've been doing some reading and it's clear that there are a few things that must be done to get this mod to work correctly. As I said above I am a complete noob when it comes to modding but I am slowly trying to learn. Anway if this mod is ever going to become a thing, I feel like these things would need to be done: 1. Correct custom race created via creation kit, for compatibility with Dawnguard. This one is both easy and tough. Creating the custom race seems easy enough but hooking up the right textures and parts seems a little more complex. The race needs to be linked to an armor set, and the armor set linked to individual armor parts, with the armor parts linked to individual textures.2. Making the skeleton race compatible with the player "skeleton" files or custom "skeletons (i.e. xp32.) Currently the skeletons ingame have their own game "skeletons" and I feel it would be best to avoid using those, in favor of creating a new one entirely. This would solve issues with first person view and killcams, and help to make sure the mod retains compatibility with the various other mods that use that.
