Platplay
Is it possible to have say a scrap metal ref on a shelf or table. And have it respawn regularly? Say the player takes it and leaves the cell, comes back in maybe a day and have a new scrap metal waiting? How would it be done if it is possible? This is not meant to respawn areas, just specific pre defined items.
WastelandAssassin
as far as i can tell you, this can't be doneyou can make a container that respawns, but i don't think you can respawn an item in the cell what are you trying to do??maybe we can help you find an alternative solution EDITon second thought, maybe you can make a script on the item, that will place another item in that place after a specific amount of time, if the item is activated or takennot sure if this could really be done, but maybe it's possible

The activator adds the item to your inventory then makes itself hidden/disabled till something else enables it. The activator is never taken, it only looks like you picked up a normal item... WuphonsReach
I considered doing this for my Random Extra Traps in FO:3. XMarker objects were suggested. But the problem you have is that either the entity will hang in mid-air when you spawn it, or it will end up warped into the ground. But try placing an XMarker object and then attaching a script to it that runs every 3 days or so. You'll need to figure out how to get the reference of the object that you spawn, so that you can see whether it still exists before you add a new one to the world. Alternately, cheat... and create (10) items and turn them on one-by-one as the older items vanish (by checking the enabled status of the most recently spawned copy).
