Background:

Before the fallout, shelters where built to house hundreds of people from the bombs. In these shelters nearly no weapons where used, only for sporting purposes or a good game of Russian Ru-let. When the vault gates opened the people found it difficult to find the resources necessary to create and maintain firearms and other modern weapons. Because of this they where hard to find, expensive, and impractical. The people reverted back to knives and spears for weapons and basic animal hides and leather for armor. When people did find cashes of weapons or repairing supplies they used them to become powerful; they stood taller than the rest of the public and became great leaders.

 

Features:

Pistols become scarce

Rifles become near impossible to find

Throwing spears, knives, and hatchets would become the new "average" weaponry

Melee is now much more frequently used

Guns/lasers do much more damage to balance rarity

Power armor / stealth armors removed or unique (only 1 in the game)

Super-weapons (That gun, This machine, tesla cannon, fat man) all removed

makeshift armor (those armors with the tires and such as spualders) and furs/leathers are more common.

More things if possible

 

I love the melee in NV and wish we could have more, so I got the idea for this mod.

If nobody helps on the mod I guess ill attempt it.

I was thinking about this idea earlier, but I dont think that Power Armor should be removed.

 

I mean, think about it. Theres all this talk about the Brotherhood being well armed, yet when it comes down to it, if you wanted you and a companion can take on a whole bunker of them. Imagine if all you had were pistols with scarce ammunition and some melee weapons, and were wearing merc armor, and you tried to take on just a few Brotherhood soldiers with Gauss Rifles? You would get decimated, as I feel it should be.

The Brotherhood Paladins and Knights should be like tanks imo.

i love this idea.

 

- make guns and ammo very expensive.

- having a gun equipped (not drawn) makes random thugs think twice about brining a knife to a gun fight.

- wearing good equipment makes people respect (good karma) and fear (bad karma) you (check on equipment when someone wants to give you a quest, intimidation through equipment)

- guns are deadly (realistic headshots mod style)

- drawn guns are frowned upon, pointing a gun at insignificant npcs makes them walk away, significant ones point it back or become hostile

- guns with condition of under 25% dont work, 25-50% cond jams a lot, 50-75% jams occasionally, 75+% jams rarely.

- most of the guns you find in the wasteland are rare and have a condition of under 5% (they got thrown away after they broke)

- let there be much more crafting material, in particular ammo cases.

- craftable gunpowder (sulfur, charcoal, salt)

- sharp weapons can be sharpened (repaired) at rotating stone wheels seen at legion base (more of those all over wasteland)

- new weapons (bows, slingshots, throwing knives, random metal junk that can be used to what the enemy on the heard with)

- you can retrieve throwing weapons that hit (spears, knives, arrows...)

- aimable body parts in vats for melee and unarmed

- better fight mechanics (fight combinations are kinda jerky and hard to land in the heat of a fight)

- slayer perk works like in F1/F2 - crit on every hit

- cripling is more effective:

+ head cripple causes blindness or a knockout

+ arm cripple slows down attacks and reduces damage, every attack deals a bit of damage to self

+ leg cripple causes slower movement, decreased jump height

+ torso cripple - minor version of having all above crippled

- add charge attack - you sprint+jump forward to target dealing a lot of damage and possibly knocking the enemy down (all contingent on STR-dmg/knock, AGI-speed/distance and melee/unarmed skills)

- add dodge possibility (contingent on AGI and unarmed/melee skills)

- add counter attack - after a block you return the attack dealing bonus damage, briefly stunning the enemy, opening him for another attack)

- more gladiator fighting (boxing in new vegas, challanging caesars guards to a throwdown, becoming a champion among great khans...)

- more close combat perks

 

Its a long list of things im sure are very hard to do, and more so balance, but would create a whole new world where not every doped out scumbag has a working gun, and plenty of ammo for it. A world where a guy wearing a good condition combat armor and a shotgun isnt confronted by a thug looking. And powered armor? Wasteland stickup boys would avoid you in droves.
