Leadpoisoning
I noticed someone with a dress cane equipped the other day and thought, wouldn't it be cool if you could have a gun disguised as a cane as a holdout weapon? I've seen this type of gun-cane in movies before (I think The Penguin may have used one at one point), and I don't think creating it would require any new models or textures. You might need to edit an attack animation for it, though. The idea is basically a holdout weapon with a little more punch to it. So here's what I was thinking for the gun. It should use 12.7mm pistol ammo, and probably not hold any more than three rounds at a time. It should have relatively low damage but a very high crit damage. Also, since it's supposed to be a concealed weapon, it probably shouldn't make people explode into bloody giblets. It should also, obviously, used a silenced pistol sound, be somewhat heavier than a normal dress cane, and be on the list of holdout weapons. I was able to find the list but I can't figure out how to edit it. Plus, changing the attack and reload animations is way out of my depth. Let me know if you're going to try this. Thanks! Gashjackel
So sorta like the pimp cane from saints row 2?
Leadpoisoning
So sorta like the pimp cane from saints row 2? Never played that game, but I would assume so.
Gashjackel
The pimp cane was pretty much just a cane but with a shotgun built in
DragonJTS
I'd assume he means an actual gun cane, which were low calibre weapons carried by gentlemen who didn't feel like dicking around with a sword.
Leadpoisoning
Yeah, that's more what I was thinking of. Definitely not a shotgun.
StPatrick923
Actually, if someone were to make this...how much trouble would it be to include both a low-caliber weapon and a shotgun variant? Also, making them items you can (or even have to) craft would not seem unreasonable.
Guest deleted2159825
Good idea. You could have a dart gun variant as well. It's been done before: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgi_Markov Yes, that was an umbrella, but it's close enough.
StPatrick923
Would it look like a slightly modified dress cane or have a different model altogether?
Leadpoisoning
Would it look like a slightly modified dress cane or have a different model altogether? I have virtually no experience with modeling or model editing, so I don't know how much additional trouble it would be to edit the dress cane model to make it look more like a gun cane. But since the whole idea of the weapon is that it's hard to distinguish visually from a regular cane, I don't think it would be out of the question to use the exact same model as the dress cane. Also, making it a crafted gun would make sense. Mr. Holdout might sell the blueprint for it. EDIT: A dart gun variant would 1) make more sense and 2) be downright awesome, but the dart would need a custom effect. Maybe massive initial fatigue damage followed by some fairly heavy DoT, so it would knock someone out and then kill or nearly kill them while they were out.
