Ambrya
I would like to do a series of videos of my playthrough starting from the character's origin. For aesthetic, RP, and continuity purposes, I would like a set of the mod armor I have chosen to be present from the very first cutscene where the character is introduced. Is there a way to do this? I don't actually know all that much about modding, just a little bit of monkey-see-monkey-do use of .xml and the toolkit. I know how to replace the armor in a .das file in the toolkit, but there's no character.das file generated until after the first savegame, which takes place after the introductory cutscene. I can also replace the armor in the character.xml file, but there's no pause between creating the character and loading straight into the introductory cutscene where I can close out of the game and swap the files. I know there are some mods, such as Improved Atmosphere and Obsidian's Nobler Noble, which change the starting equipment, so I know it's possible, I'm just having a hard time figuring out precisely how to do it. Thandal
So if I understand what you're looking for, you want to get a specific set of custom armour "equipped" on your PC, (and not just added to your inventory) immediately after you've completed the CC stage, and before the introductory scene. Not sure how to do that. All the item mods I know about can put things IN the game (inventory, merchant, chest, etc.) but I haven't seen any that put them ON a character. And I thought "Improved Atmosphere" changed the "look" of certain items, but not what's equipped automagically. (Can't say what "Nobler Noble" does, haven't tried it...) [Edit: But for your purposes, (making a series of videos) all you really want is for your PC to be wearing something in the opening scene that LOOKS like the armour. If you replaced the mesh of whatever would otherwise be worn with the one from the armour, your video would appear the way you want!]
Ambrya
Yes, that is exactly it. A few mods do it, such as Improved Atmosphere and Obsidian's Nobler Noble, so it has to be possible. I just don't know how to do it myself, or if it's possible at as little skill as I have. I can't find anywhere in the toolset where you set a characters starting equipment. Hmm... that's an interesting idea with replacing the mesh. I'm using the Phoenix Armory armor, though, so it's a little more complex because of the dying and the fact that it uses a custom body mesh. Will have to see what I can come up with. ETA: Okay, nevermind, this is clearly beyond my skill level. drat. Edited November 3, 2010 by Ambrya
