Ballto
I've always loved new game+ features in games, is there a mod or method out there that will allow me to start the game from the beginning again, but keep my character the way they previously were? DarkeWolf
Heyas Ballto :) Welcome to the nexus! :) Well, you can use the face replacer - http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=428to reuse the face of your original character on a new character, or to give a character a new face altogether. However, there isnt a mod that will allow you to convert all of the things that your character had done, and all of that.It 'might" be possible to do with a savegame edit in the toolset. BUT the toolset refuses to open savegames that are around the 1 megabyte-ish file size. It will crash and give a "Out of memory" error. Which kinda makes that kind of savegame editing impossible. :( I'm sorry that I could only give you partial good news, and have to give you bad news along with it :( But, happy gaming, and again... welcome to the site, enjoy your stay with us :)
Ballto
Thanks for the welcoming!Truth be told I've looked around at some of the mods on here and find that most of them are fantastic. However given that I'm not particularly technically inclined, I've sort of had to limit myself to anything that works with a dazip file. Since you've been so helpful already, could you possibly give me a link that is basically DA Modding for dummies?I'm sure it's got to exist on this site, and after seeing all of the mods here I really want to give it a go. Thandal
DA Modding for Dummies: [Others may have different tips, but I think with these you can get enough of the basics to figure out what you're doing.] 0. Most mods are distributed in compressed form (".rar", ".zip", etc.) You'll need the appropriate utility to unpack them before doing any of the following. 1. Any mod that's packaged as a ".dazip" can be installed with the built-in "DAUpdater.exe" program, or with either of the two "managers": DAO-Modmanager (DAMM), or DA Modder (DAM). 2, Anything that says "place in your override folder" does not need to be "installed". Simply place it in the folder named "override" located under "\[user's documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\Packages\Core..." 3. Almost any mod that is designed to work during the Character Creation Phase to change the way your PC looks ("More Hairstyles", "CC Tints and Tones", etc.) must be merged into the "chargenmorphcfg.xml" file. This CAN be done manually, but Terra_Ex's "CharGenMorph Compiler" utility (look for it here on Nexus) makes it much easier. 4. Some mods don't react well to some of the DLC. The best known conflicts are with Leliana's Song and Witch Hunt. Recommendation is to disable (uncheck) these two on the "Installed Content" menu unless actually playing them. 5. Many (all?) mods that ADD ITEMS to your inventory will fail with a BRAND NEW game until after you've made your first save. Disable them, play until able to Save, then enable them. 6. Not all mods work and play well with others. Be sure to make a Named Save BEFORE installing a new one. And always presume that a new problem is due to the mod you most like conflicting with the one you just added! Happy Modding!
DarkeWolf
Great work Thandal  1) Dont go about installing a lot of mods all at the same time. If you have a conflict or problems, its a lot easier to track down what caused it. 2) Mods packed up as a .zip file can be handled by da modder 3) winrar or 7zip is a must have program 4) For dragon age- Murphy's Law. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, and at the worst possible moment. 5) Make multiple savegames. Bugs can really make you wish that you had another save, when you don't want one. XTR3M368
If you want to use your current character's look with a new character, this is a far simpler program to use. All you have to do is open it, click on the save game that has the face you want, then click on the save game where you want that face to go, and hit import...no multiple steps and easy as pie to install....no other programs required. The mod is CHANGE YOUR HERO HAIR AND FACE ANYWHERE IN THE GAME

The mod is CHANGE YOUR HERO HAIR AND FACE ANYWHERE IN THE GAMENot quite as simple as the author's title makes it sound. You have to create a NEW character that has the exact face you want to use, then play that character long enough to craete a save. I've found this mod: "DA Face Replacer", (which works the same way) a bit easier to use. Plus it allows you to change your PC's name, and even increase your inventory capacity if you want! [Ok, maybe not "easier to use." I forget that not everyone is into IT, so the idea of installing a programming language (Python, in this case) may be intimidating. But it isn't hard. Go to "Python.org", download and install the latest version. Less hassle than messing with most DA mods! After THAT, "DAFR" is easy to use. Honest... ] Edited November 5, 2010 by Thandal
XTR3M368
You have to create a NEW character that has the exact face you want to use, then play that character long enough to craete a save. Not true at all. You can swap a character morph from any save game to any other save game without creating a new character. They can take the old face morph and put it on the new one. I have done it but only male to male and female to female. I haven't verified cross race or cross gender though. The original guy was asking about using an existing character stuff on a new character. I was only addressing the face/morph part of that question in the spirit of making it easier. They also state that they are not technically inclined and the one I recommend is definitely easier to install and use and requires no other programs to be installed. The only thing you have to know is where your save games are.

That's the way all the "change an existing character's appearance" mods work. All of them rely on starting a new face from scratch, (before or after installing the mod) saving a game with THAT character, (again, before or after installing the mod) then changing one character's appearance to match the other's. I keep hoping for someone to make an appearance mod that let's me put my current character BACK into the CC module WITH the existing appearance, so I can tweak the eye color, or the hairstyle, or the lip shade "just a smidge", then save the new face to the same character's record. I have totally failed at re-creating a previous face with "just that one thing different" every time I've tried!
XTR3M368
That would be cool. I have my favorite female that I just can't seem to duplicate so that I could go different hair, eye color ect too.
