Chaky2 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 If I upload a new version of the file and name it the same as old, the file downloaded IS the old one. Even if the file descriptios shows file size of the new one. If I meerly change the name, without re-uploading, the file switches back to new version.
buddah Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 If they are exactly the same it will not overwrite the existing file. On a file page a file name can only be used by one uploaded file. If you want to use the same name put the version number after the name or rename the old one first.
Chaky2 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 The thing is, I've deleted the old file first, then uploaded the new one with exactly the same name, and the file size (in the file section) shows the right size size and everything, but the actual file that gets downloaded is the one that was allegedly deleted. Also, if I change the name of the new file (the only file), then the new file becomes the fle that gets downloaded... and if I change it back to the old filename, then the old (deleted) file is what people get when they download. P.S.Seems to affect New Vegas Nexsus only.
Community Manager Dark0ne Posted November 6, 2010 Community Manager Posted November 6, 2010 The file servers are all in separate locations around the world so there's a lag between files being uploaded to the main site and then getting transferred to the file servers. This lag is normally about an hour. Theoretically if you wait an hour or so it should update the file on the file servers and all should be well. If this isn't working just change the file name slightly; it will force the file servers to download the new file and all will be well.
CommanderCrazy Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Just rename it then. Or, put the old files in a new section, possibly called Old Files.
Chaky2 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 Well, I did that, but that's not the issue here.. the issue is with this lag that Dark0ne mentioned.
CommanderCrazy Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Right. So it's settled then.Perhaps set your file to hidden while this is happening?
Chaky2 Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Maybe I should've mentioned this before: The file in question isn't large. It is 200 kb of size and it isn't (to my understanding) distributed over to various mirrors/file servers.
CommanderCrazy Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 As it's his only file on NVNexus, I would think that it's this one.http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35012
