Malchik
If this topic has been raised before please kill it. No one can fail to notice how rude the inhabitants are in Seyda Neen about what you are wearing. Good idea is to get to Balmora, break into Ondres Nerano's manor bedroom. In the chest of drawers is a full set of exquisite clothing. This increases NPCs friendliness towards you. They are also ideal for enchanting with permanent spells like water walking, water breathing, levitate and night-eye etc. I rather made the mistake of putting water walking on the pants. Now if I want to submerge I have to strip. Still it's all a bit more realistic that way.

Stampede
When I start new characters and they are dressed in the generic outfits, I've heard npcs comment about me looking like a farmer, or that a they've seen better outfits on a guar. However I'm not sure if it's because they just didnt like my custom made orc who had a personality of about 10 and a strength of 70 to deal with critics. I think if npcs have a high disposition towards you they'll probably say you look great in anything the kisser uppers.
Mojlnir
I prefer to dress my character in an odd assortment of clothes. I find that skirts or cloaks cover armor very well and a certain feeling of stealth to my endeavors. I am also rather amused by the comments made by Ordinators when you walk by them unclothed. My character is not "ashamed" but rather proud to display his battle hardened physique. That and the fact that most of my clothes are stolen and when the Ordinators come knocking, naked I'll be walking.
Ta'Thalos
I use robes as well!I used some really boring normal robes for a ong time, before I found the base of one of the Vampire Clans, and then I took one of their robes; they're dark brown, and I thought they looked really cool on my Nord. And then, after I had finished the suicide cult mission in Tribunal, I taunted and killed that guy (can't remember his name) just so I could get his cool white robes! :DLet me tell you, they look really good with a near-full set of High Ordinator armour; and it's great camouflage for the snowy regions of Solstheim! :D
Dijas
When I get out of Census and Excise Offices, I usually go get Processius's robe and Tahriel's clothes. Done!
