Problem disabling a mod

I'm having a problem when trying to load a save after disabling the Arena Lewt Mod.

The game freezes while loading the save. I do have other mods installed, but they do not conflict with the it. To test I removed each mod one by one (unchecking, loading, saving, unchecking etc) except for the Arena Lewt Mod, leaving it as the only one still enabled. Yet, when I then disable this, the problem remains.

The weird thing is, another save, which I have used the exact same mods with loads fine when I disable the ALM. Even if I leave all the others enabled. However, there is a difference - I enabled the ALM part way through the Arena quest in the problem save, whereas it was there from the beginning in the save that works. I have a suspicion this could have caused the problem.

I have gone back and forth with the author of the plugin on the official Elder Scrolls forums, and he suggested that the problem was caused by me having arena items in my inventory while trying to disable the mod. But, I have since found out that this makes no difference. The save which does let the mod disable, which I spoke of above, has arena items in the inventory. I can even drop the items and upon trying to pick them up again, it says I cannot loot from the arena. :)

I really doubt anybody can provide a simple answer for what is causing this. Though maybe someone is willing to walk me through some debugging steps. I can, if needed, provide the save in question which only depends on the Arena Lewt Mod and no other mods.

Thanks,

Shot in the dark here; remove all files associated with ALM (just make sure if you do, your not been over written by ALM). I only started downloading mods after i finished the game, because i was afraid things like what you described may happen. Hope someone else can help you more then me.

Hey,

Thanks for your reply. :)

The Arena Lewt Mod is a single ESP. When testing loading with the mod disabled, I did make sure to uncheck it in the Oblivion Launcher and to be safe, I did even move it from the Data directory.

Yeah, I did that as well. :) The problem save is my second time through, and I have done almost all of the quests, apart from that annoying Nirnroot one. :)

In all honesty, having this mod enabled does not diminish the game quality, it's just annoying that I can't ever remove it.

Hope someone else can help you more then me.

I appreciate that you took the time to reply. :)

Anyway, like many other people, I have decided to start a new game with OOO 1.3, when it's released.

Thanks again,
