revelationjp
Companion quests really seem to be rather counter-intuitive. I managed to complete Veronica, Cass, ed-e, lily, and rex's quests with no problems. I couldn't seem to get Boone or Arcade's quests to even activate. I broke down and looked up walkthrough's for both, and even doing all the things needed, couldn't get thier respective dialogs to work. I think the problem is that the game is geared in such a way as it assumes you're going to travel with 1 or perhaps two favorite companions. why else would the built in triggers be placed in such a way? what are the odds that if you're traveling with boone when you find the crashed vertibird, that you'd ever go back there with arcade for instance? or once you kill the van grafs for cass, why would you think to take arcade back there when you know there's nothing? It seems that the quests are built in such a way that if you do play through with one favorite companion, their dialogs will happen naturally, instead if you want to complete all their quests, you have to backtrack to places you've got no reason to go to. I believe this is part of the designers focus on making choices and sticking to them. Kinda a cool system, exept for those completionists out there like me. :)

zerrodefex
In the case of Arcade you apparently have to be hostile with the Legion before you can even start triggering his quest. I picked him up after killing Caesar and only had to take him to two trigger locations before he'd actually give me his quest. The thing that annoys me about ED-E is that his quest is actually time-based. No matter how many trigger locations you visit, the logs (and subsequent radio invitations) arrive after a certain number of days each, so if you're not playing on Hardcore and have no reason to sleep 8 hours a day you could finish the game before getting halfway through his quest without ever figuring out how to finish it.
