New Real guns

I work for a gun company and we are thinking of offering a "simplified" ( that is to say the outside is slightly smaller such as 1% but their are no guts) model of our guns for use in games. As in you contact us/ download the model we offer for free, you are aloud to mod the color, "magazines/clips" and accessories. The specifications and variations are included in a PDF for the developer to do with what they wont. With one stipulation the model must still contain the logo of the gun and the name and manufacturer in the selection of the gun. we would only ask that if you made money from it we would at that point have a license agreement for a percentage of the profit. I just wanted to know what every one thought.

this sounds like quite an interesting idea

i am sure that many people would love this, especially as modeling is rather hard, and people find retexturing to be much easier to learn and do

this will probably interest people more in the New Vegas section, as there are plenty of weapon mods for FO3, but very few for NV, at least until they will be converted

one small request, if i may

just to show what you really mean, could you post a picture or two, of the models that you are interested in offering??

and also if you could show us what kind of logo is required to appear (so as to know how big is it, and how bold and such)

this way, we will know what to expect, and consider if we really want this or not :)

thanks for your generous offer

well, i wish i knew how to create textures, as i would jump on that offer (especially if your company makes sniper rifles, or any other rifles (not assault rifles, that is))

maybe it's time for me to learn

i would surely love to take on this challenge :)

Well we don't make sniper rifles but the rifle you see above is an assault rifle. the thing is we are eventually planning on replacing the barrel so that instead of it being a 18 inch to would be a 32inc. (well 20, 26 and 32) Its a .308 cal so it has some punch and the range. The only thing is I don't know how compatible the real files are compared to gaming software.

is this just the meshes or is it textured already? I ask because of the two tone colours on the rifle picture you attached.

The pictures are of the real production models. so its a bit more complicated then that i think. the color is a default in the modeling program so it i guess is just the mesh is equivalent to the three dimensional representation of the gun. it provably would need to be textured. As of right now both guns are only produced in black. So that is the default color. i hope that answers you question.

Thanks, can I have a link to the download for the RFB?

There is no link. Sorry. We are just looking at the viability of doing it. But let me get some information from you and I will arrange a copy of the model. We are not quite ready to release it just to any one. I just need your email that i can send the files to. The most important question is what type of files are you able to import. I need this information because I can export certain files. Most common we use is a file called a parasolid. (.x_t and .x_b) others are jt doc (.jt), xgl dock (.xgl), ACIS dock (.sat), catia V4 (.model), catia V5 doc (.catpart), IGES (.iges , .igs), step doc (.step, .stp) STL doc (.stl)

XML doc (.plmxml), and Adobe acrobat Doc (.PDF). are all the solid files I can export. THese are all 3D modeling files i can export. Please just email me on here and I will send you the file type you request.
