So, I escorted Veronica back to Hardin where they had a dicussion on going out for a fight, which Veronica disagreed with.

And that was that! The quest marker is now checked. I tried initiating a discussion with her but get the same old chat options.

Nothing about collecting special weapons or joining the Followers (she never said anything while we were at the Mormon Fort - should I take her back there?) I'm a bit stuck here!

 

The quest is still active but the only hint (to return to the BoS) is checked - there is nothing else to do in this quest!

Veronica should initiate a dialogue with you after speaking with the Elder once you leave the room. And when you exit the bunker, a group of paladins should be waiting outside.
