Req: Passive Weapon Skill Gain

The basic idea is that you get better with skills passively. I was thinking of keeping the math relatively simple by saying you gain 1 point in a skill for every x times you use the skill where x is twice the number of skill points you currently have in the skill. For example: to increase the Guns skill from 10 to 11 would require you to fire 10(2) rounds. If I added it up right it would require you to fire 10100 rounds to go from 1 skill point to 100. Is this something that could be accomplished with the scripting tools available for F:NV?

Just firing the gun alone should not increase the skill, although if you could make an equation for accuracy (the game may already have one) for say X shots fired and X shots hit then you could base it off of that but just firing the gun alone shouldn't increase the skill.

I respectfully disagree. The Gun skill is should be able to be improved without necessitating firing at live targets. Much like soldiers and police officers train to improve their accuracy without shooting random citizens, dogs, or mutated crab people. The idea is that you get better at shooting what your aiming at the more you aim and shoot.

Thank you for the comment, and if I get a chance to try to script this I will try to make a version to cater to both desires.
