stygian1
I have a similar question. I'm trying to recolor the 1950stylesuit/outfitdarkm.dds to purple, have already extracted the bsa data using NVMM (New Vegas Mod Manager), installed the .dds plugin to photoshop, done some recoloring, but now I have no idea what to do next. (Please note, this is my first attempt at a mod, so I'm a bit slow...) The only tutorial video of relevance I've found ( http://youtu.be/gkRq5ec5ozU ) showed how to recolor the Chinese Stealth Suit, which seemed really easy since it did the retexture via armor addon. However, there doesn't seem to be an entry for the outfits in armor addons. I have no idea if my recolor is sufficient or not, what parts need to be changed, etc. I did place a request for a Joker-themed mod pack, but thought it would be prudent to try to learn to do things on my own at the same time, so that I can do my own fair share of content creation here. I honestly had no idea it was this complicated to create mods beyond simple item placements in the open. (In fact, I have no idea how to place items inside a container in the GECK yet, but will reach that point once I have something worth playing with.) Much of the advice for hollow201 will most likely apply to my stuff as well, so I'm piggybacking.

Depends on whether you want to leave the original suit in the game... or you just want a straight texture replace. Texture replace is easy... find out the folder structure ie: data\textures\armor\whatever... then dump it there. Creating a new suit requires some time spent in the GECK. If thats the case have some fun mucking around in there... eventually you will either get it done or you will stop having fun and find another tutorial. PerfectlyInSane
how do i re-texture weapons? where do i find the texture files? The texture files are located in "Fallout - Textures.bsa" and "Fallout - Textures2.bsa". To get in at them you will need a program that will unpack said .bsa's, NVMM will do it... or any number of other user created programs will get you into the files. I suggest you start with a very basic tutorial... just to get you started and used to how it all works.
