xLoneWolf94x Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) Hello. I've run into a rather odd bug that I'm completely stumped about fixing. Yesterday I noticed that for some reason two of the misc quests in Whiterun (Amren's and Ysolda's) were not triggering. When talking to them the dialoge options to trigger them were not showing up. Even after using the console command setstage and resetquest, nothing worked. I was convinced it was a mod (as it usually is) and proceeded to check my mods and begin to disable/uninstall them. The odd thing was I had 0 mods that could possibly cause this. The only one that seemed likely was Better Cities Whiterun, which was also causing me a ton of CTDs. After removing that one and finding the error still occuring after a new-game I decided to purge the unclean and remove ALL of my mods (excluding alternate start to avoid 50 minute intro). I only kept the unofficial patches, which I then removed after discovering that with all mods disabled the bug still occured. I then went strickly base game skyrim (Again, excluding Alternate Start, but several of my friends use the mod and never encountered this, so I've MOSTLY ruled it out.), and the bug STILL occured. I then uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and ITS STILL HAPPENING. I'm stumped, completely. The only possible thing I could think of is that a mod I had must've completely broke a game file that steam uninstalling doesn't replace. No clue. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I did use SKSE, LOOT, and Boss before removing most of the mods (never stopped using skse ofc.) And neither of those found any complications. I need a hero, preferably one who's broken and fixed their game enough times to basically be a God at fixing this broken, fantastic game. Thanks in advance! Edited February 20, 2015 by xLoneWolf94x
ZZZ02 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Misc quests not showing up is a vanilla bug probably game engine and I think it is progress dependent, the more playtime you have the more likley it is to happen. Also,did you change the timescale? that causes AI problems. finally did youremove mods and play on the same saved game? if so that could be the cause of your issues start anew game if that is the case. PS you LOOT AND BOSS, pick one not both
xLoneWolf94x Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Vanilla bug would make sense since I just completly removed every single skyrim file and still had the error. as far as timescale, yes, but not to an extreme enough messure to cause this, and after purging the files I didn't edit the scale. And no, I created a new save each test. I used both loot and boss cause I'm testing out both to see which I enjoy more (And to see if LOOT fixed the problems BOSS was failing at.) The fact that the problem still persists drives me insane though.
xLoneWolf94x Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 Problem was resolved. Not sure what did it, but it eventually started working again. Clear 6 gigs of space taken up by brken mods though, so the uninstall at least helped with that :)
