devinpatterson
I'm trying to export dialog from Skunkwater Gulch by Quetzlsacatanango. He doesn't have the geck on his rig, and needs the dialog for the comic he's writing up. Even though I select the esm in filter file box, the dialog begins exporting from the NV, the DLCs and the esm. After about 4 hours and a 18mb text file I killed off teh geck. I feel like Q has done a lot for the NV community and I'm hoping someone has some insight to just exporting the dialog quests in his mod.
llamaRCA
Instead of trying to extract all the files for the entire esm do it by NPC. There's a step-by-step guide of how to do that in the mod description here. Scroll down the description until you get to "FOR USERS WITH PRE-RECORDED WAV FILES". You'll want to do steps 1, 2 and part of 3. The mod is about lip syncing and voice acting, but the info you want is contained in those three steps. devinpatterson
Hi llamaRCA, thanks for the response. I was hesitant to go with filter by NPC, because he had so many characters in the mod. Is the filter by file essentially non-functional/broken then? I was hoping it was something I was just missing. I did export by file (getting his master plus NV and all the DLCs), while I was at work, for a whopping 30mb text file :pinch: Hey, I can't think of a better person to ask a dialog related question like this, but I once ran across a thread that referenced a TES (oblivion I think) tool that a mod author used for editing dialog in fallout. She had said it was easier than the geck. I was never able to find the thread again and I was curious if you might have any insight to what the app was, or if you use something other than the geck for dialog. Thanks for your time llamaRCA. I've never heard about it while modding for Fallout and I never modded Oblivion.

Lol, beat me to my own post about my own post! XD After you get that txt file, if you want to make Q's life easier, you can import the txt into Excel as a nice clean spreadsheet using this tutorial: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Import-data-using-the-Text-Import-Wizard-40c6d5e6-41b0-4575-a54e-967bbe63a048?CorrelationId=302dd78c-e08f-4c67-b43b-81118d4431f3&ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US That is probably what you heard about for making writing dialog easier. There is also Articy but it doesn't work for GECK. It might for Skyrim, I don't know: http://www.nevigo.com/en/articydraft/overview/ It's also ridiculously expensive.
